How does your game fit the theme?
You program your robot, pray for his safety and then let him loose into the world, out of your control. Hurry back you blessed metal soul.

Game looks great, like others below, it does play a bit slow, but that's the nature of the game (though the game Oblivious Cartographer in this jam has a similar idea with less complexity that's faster paced). I was surprised no one else reported having trouble with level 5. All the other levels seemed pretty straightforward, but I was convinced that level had to be impossible for a bit and was surprised no one else was having difficulty with it. I really don't understand how the electricity works. It seemed like the first pad drained 2 inputs out of me (which having inputs being drained without that being explained is pretty confusing), but then the other pad only drained 1 input?
Also, I'm thinking about it a little bit, and is there any reason why inputs can't work immediately and give you an undo button? The puzzle nature doesn't come from having to follow the path in your mind, rather the action limit and battery mechanics, so abandoning the whole program everything ahead of time idea might help speed up the game's pace.
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback! Agreed, the shocking tiles can be tough, they we really need an animation so you can your UI piece disappear. It removes one queued action for each turn you spend on it, so the first one you spend two turns on as you land and have to turn and then move. The second one is just land and move. (It also errors out if you have no moves to drain, oops...). I would think most people didn't play to that point otherwise we would see many more complaints about it! Haha I think the battery level in particular is really really slow to show that mechanic, and most people would stop when they mess up there once.
The inputs could 100% work immediately, but it just changes the nature of the game. Part of the challenge we wanted to impart was having to visualize where your robot was as things happened to it, and removing that challenge trivializes it a little bit. You're definitely right about needing to speed it up, in the 'post-jam' version, we've removed the delay between actions, removed some frames from the animation and are implementing a reset button. We're also looking at chaining animations together, so walking 3 tiles forward will have an animation rather than having to play walking one tile three times. Hopefully that makes it feel a little snappier!
Thanks again for playing and for such detailed feedback!
Interesting idea, awesome models and animations. And nice voice acting ;)
I think the pace of game is too slow. But apart from that, Great job :)
And if you had time, I'd be thankful if you try my submission <3
This is so incredibly polished! Aesthetics, animation and SFX are just top notch, great job!
Nice game. The audio an the 3d models are very good, as well as the animations. In my opinion the game could have been improved with a skip button when the robot is walking, because it is tedious to see the robot walking the whole path (but I understand that in a game jam such details are difficult to implement).
Thanks for playing! I think plotting it out would have been fine to implement, in fact I only removed the ability to pilot on the fly at the very end as it's easier to test levels and animations that way. It does trivialize some of the challenge though when you can see everything. Thanks for the feedback! Also your idea of interviewing game devs on stream is really cool! Looking forward to seeing some of them.
This has a level of polish I have never seen in a jam game before! The animation and modelling are straight up Pixar quality! I've got to say though, I don't really think this fits the theme. Once you've programmed the bot, you know exactly what it's going to do. It's pretty much in your control. Other than that, options to restart, fast-forward and skip cutscenes would be nice. I'm sorry if this is too negative, maybe I'm just not a fan of this kind of game. :(
Really impressive game in such a short time. It has interesting and fun puzzles. I enjoyed playing it, though it is quite slow to play. Overall it's a nice looking fun puzzle game with great potential. :)
This was an amazing entry to the jam, and if this was completed in only 2 days, it is truly commendable. The only thing missing is a bit of polish, such as load times, faster command execution, more obvious visual effects to show what's happening.
Other than that, excellent game, would love to see more.
I'm going to start by saying that the art, animations, and audio are all amazing and its incredible you made all this in 48 hours. I am of the opinion that simply making a game harder to control, while it fits the theme, does not make the game very fun. take away the difficult controls and you have a puzzle game where the catch is you have limited moves, which would be a fun game but the controls and general speed of the character make it painfully slow going. it bores you especially when you have to repeat the same stuff because you messed up. Just work on the pacing and the ease of control and the game will feel so much better. still impressed you were able to make this in the 48 hours. best of luck :)
Super impressive project for a jam, and just a very fun game overall, pretty solid puzzle design, though it would be nice if the robot executed the program a bit faster. Great entry!
This is absolutely amazing for a game jam game. I managed to solve all the puzzles myself, but couldn't put it down until I did! Great work.
I'm going to echo the other comments and say that this level of polish is amazing for a weekend game! The concept was cool and the puzzles were neat.
A suggestion I'd make is to add an undo button during the programming phase. If you realize you messed up during it, you have no choice but to send Barry on his way and just wait until he fails to have another go at it.
Also on the level that introduced electric traps I ended up using my last move on a trap, and the level didn't reset, so I couldn't do anything =(
But other that that, this was incredible! Keep up the good work!
Yes, I just saw my friend run into the same issue with the shocking puzzles! You can use the numbers above the keyboard (1-6) I think, to skip between levels. Haha the higher numbers might crash the game as we didn't get a chance to add them in. You can also click on the controls at the top to undo them, but that's obviously not very intuitive, so thank you so much for the feedback and for playing!
Great job to everyone who worked on this. The game is aesthetically very pleasant, and engaging too with its well thought-out progression. Clearly the result of some good teamwork. You situated humanity's breakdown much later than I did! Cheers!
The level of polish your team managed in 48 hours is absolutely stunning. Great visuals with some fun tunes mixed in. I enjoyed the puzzle itself, too. And I never considered programming as a way to do this theme. Great job on an awesome entry!
The graphics are awesome as well as the overall style and execution of the game. the only thing that I didn't like was slow animations, skipping or making them 2.5x times faster or maybe even having UI to make time go faster would be great
Really cool little game, love the assets you made. But is it truly out of control if you plan all your moves ahead of time? I'll give it a pass either way because it was fun!
