A fun take on the bullet-hell "out of control character" type of game in this jam. While I like the general concept, and think you did a pretty good job at implementing it, I have just a couple bits of feedback.

  • The audio gets really repetitive really quick. This can be avoided by adding some variants of the shooting noise into the game. (Perhaps 2-3 noises for the player, 2-3 for red enemies and 2-3 for blue, or something along those lines, however I know that's easier said than done in a game jam haha).
  • I sorta cheesed the game, because I realised if you hold left, you're pretty much impossible to be shot at. Using this tactic I got to 100 health, and decided to quit. :P This can probably be avoided by adjusting the way you spawn enemies, but also maybe changing the way enemies shoot. If the enemies shoot towards where I'm going, that would require me to dodge (although make the game a lot harder), OR you can give the enemies shots a bit of spread, randomising their shooting patterns a little bit.

Overall though, great effort, I'd love to see this idea explored further.

The pixelated characters worked well for a jam game. Had to play several times to get into the concept of the game. Feedbacks felt pretty good, shooting felt a little slow for a game like that. A tutorial would greatly improve the first time experience. You tried to fit into the theme, and tried quite an experimental game design, i salute that : )

It has an interesting idea, but the concepts of the game are not shown to the player so you will die a few times before understanding what's going on. Still, I liked it.

With a little more presentation and polish, I could see this being a really cool game. I like the concept and its all around a clever design! Great work here!

Really clever. The cycle of take damage, lose control, shoot to gain heath, spend health to gain control is very fun. I'd have liked a smaller level before getting thrown into the game proper to get a feel for the mechanics. I feel like losing horizontal/vertical control should be more of an encumbrance than it is, I actually like not having to control my character more XD.

Great game! I like the increase of control prices the longer the game is. Really fun one!

Nice concept, I like that health has two roles to play.

I like the concept and I see what you were going for, I would've liked a tutorial level or something just to help me get to grips with the controls, but I like the idea and if you work on it more, hope to see this improved upon :)

A little hard to understand at first, but the concept is definitely there!

A little hard to grasp what was going on initially, but once I got it it was quite fun!

Took me a few goes to get the hang of it, but felt nice to play after that. Would love to know what the high score is!
