Very well put together game! I enjoyed how the level design always made good use of the introduced power. As well, I really liked the "Newgrounds" art. Overall, well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I saw your game on reddit and I had to try it out. It's amazing. I think this idea is pretty original.
I enjoyed the music and the effort you guys put on it, I listened to two tracks couldn't finish so I don't know if there's more.

I liked how the game quickly resets after you die, the camera movement to the place you died is a little bit annoying but it's a minor issue. The level before I got the eye laser gave me the impression that I needed a little bit of luck so I got frustrated. I couldn't figure how to pass the level after that, so I'll try and play the game again when I get some time.

But overall I think this is an amazing game, congrats on the job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and feedback! Our final two levels were definitely not as polished as our earlier ones as you noticed due to the time constraints. You're almost at the end though! The camera effect is quite strange, seems to pop up sometimes and not other times (maybe PC dependent too?). We noticed that late in development but also ran out of time to address it unfortunately :( These are definitely things we'll keep in mind for the next jam / update, so thanks so much for your feedback!

Clean finish for a jam game! Loved the idea on uncontrollable superpowers, and the design made the balance of them all pretty interesting

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

Very lovely game! Became a fun challenge to needing to plan ahead my presses in order that I used each ability when I wanted to, and some of the puzzles were quite satisfying to complete :) My only gripe is I noticed some of the later levels seemed to be copies of previous ones with extra enemies, which still had roughly the same solution, but other than that a nice game to complete all the way :D

Developer

Thanks for playing! We did end up recycling a bit for later levels due to the time constraints, but hopefully the second time you completed them faster at least 😀

Nice game, the explosion introduction made things pretty chaotic with all those boxes and I think it was the party that I enjoyed the most. Great job, had a lot of fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing! We wish we could've spent a bit more time tweaking those physics but it definitely did create a degree of chaos lol. Glad you enjoyed it 😀

I really like the concept it really works with the theme. Biggest disappointment though is the fact that in a game called "Super Spacebar" I have to click play to start the game rather than press the spacebar.

Developer

... I can't believe it's been 3 days and you're the first person to point that out. Definitely a huge oversight.

Thanks for forgiving it and still giving the game a chance!

Submitted(+1)

It was definitely worth giving a chance.

Interesting idea, but I don't think I like the execution of it. I know you wanted to make the player feel out of control by having all the power activate at the same time, but I felt more frustrated than overwhelmed or confused. There could of been other way to make them feel out of control, while not being frustrating I think. For example, collateral damage (killing innocent people with laser eye or damaging yourself somehow). Or random power activating on it's own (with a short warning).

I will say that you did good on level design and made good on tha premise though, so that is really appreciated. The artstyle is simple, but work perfectly and the music was a good fit.

Overall good job nonetheless !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! We actually agree with your first point and wish we had a bit more time to flesh out some of the systems in ways just as you described. Killing innocents funny enough is something we talked about from the beginning but we ran out of time 😭 The random power activating on its own was also something we discussed but we decided against it as we didn't believe it would make for a fun platformer. For something like a top-down shooter we thought it would be more appropriate, but discussed taking control out of the players' hands could come up with varied results in a more physics-based game.

But we totally understand how the controls we made have felt frustrating, we've noticed that after watching some people play after releasing to the public. Thank you for your helpful feedback, these are definitely things we'll keep in mind for our next jam!

Thanks for submitting your game to play it on stream, hope you find the feedback valuable! (Approx time codes to all games played in the description). Congratulations on making a game in a weekend!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game on stream, was great to see someone else interact with our level design (for both the good and the bad lol). Congrats to you as well!

I had a lot of fun and liked the idea. Pretty long for a game jam game too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! We might've bit off a bit more than we could chew in regards to # of levels and powers, but we loved all of them so couldn't bring ourselves to make cuts lol. Glad you enjoyed it!

This is a pretty fun game with a interesting and unique mechanic. The art style is cute and the music fits quite well. The level design could do with some improvements. Overall this is a fun game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Would definitely plan on refining levels in the future. We had a good amount of time to storyboard / plan the first two level then found ourselves short on time with the last two, so it's probably pretty apparent.

Nice art and music- I ran into a bug where I just see black and "Touch me to gain superpower" (like on the first screen) in the room after the moving plaform covering the blocks.

But before that, the dash ability feels really cool. Axiom Verge, anyone?

Developer

Thank you to bring that bug to our attention. We managed to fixed the bug on our end but since the submission closed, we couldn't upload a new version. One way to not encounter the bug is try not to die at the last section of level 1 :(  . Hope you gave us a try again. There are more super powers beside dash :)

Submitted(+1)

Quite fun! However, my game always bugs  out on the screen with spikes on the ceiling and a moving platform, and I can't progress.

Developer(+1)

Darn, that's unfortunate to hear! When you say bugs out what do you mean, does it just crash?

Submitted

It starts flickering back and forth between various screen, and I can't do anything in this state.

Developer

Hmm, never seen that bug before but thanks for playing and letting us know!

Submitted(+1)

My thumb is tired but totally worth it lmao

Developer(+1)

We're glad that you enjoyed the game :D
