Such a creative take on the theme! super cool mechanic and really fun, the game was a bit challenging but I loved it! Well done!
That was an incredible entry, very juicy and satisfying to play. Great work!
I think you nailed the feeling of being a parent! ;D Real neat idea! Wish the shield would be just a little bit bigger though: had a lot of trouble reliably blocking projectiles on level 3. Also it felt like the son is knocked back just far enough to be right where he stood when the next bullet reaches that point, which can be quite frustrating when you're close to the end of a level. Lastly I'd shorten the duration of the fadeout when restarting the level, given how tricky later levels are and how quickly it becomes obvious when you screwed up. All in all very challenging, but well-made game. :)
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the detailed feedback! These are all great suggestions, I'll see if I can implement them in the post-jam update!
Nice Game! Really liked it that you have a short pause every time the kid gets a coin or after a shield bash. Reminds me of the escort missions in the old days.
Thanks for playing! I think these little mechanics add a surprising amount of depth, so it's good to see they're appreciated.
This game is just delightful. What a wholesome concept! Course, it's a little less wholesome watching your son die in front of you, haha! Dead sons aside, this game had some top-notch polish, not to mention the dope game page.
Hahahaha it does sounds brutal when you put it that way. Let's just imagine that he is teleported back to safety upon taking too much damage :P. Thanks for playing!
Great execution of the idea and nice visual polish! Knowing the player character can block blue fires with their face really makes the last level easier, but the health of said face sould've been displayed closer (like the son's health)
Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback! Although that a valid strategy for the last level, it is possible to complete it without taking damage by using the knockback delay mechanic. I agree that the health would look better and be more intuitive if the it was displayed the same way as the son's.
Super creative approach to the theme! I'm impressed the art and sounds were created in the 48h, you're very talented!!
The gameplay feels great, super charming game, nice job! :D
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!
I really like the game. The bug where the arrow start flipping back and forth is a strange one and hope it get worked out or moved into a feature of sort where the son choose a different path to get to the point, to add a little bit more randomness in the game. Since as I got near the end I was able to start kinda prelining myself up for the next move. Do for sure continue!
Thanks for playing! Yeah, that bug will definitely be fixed! And I agree, that some randomness might be interesting,
The last level made me question my ability in video games, I beat it in the end though, that felt pretty good. That being said, this is a great take and execution on the theme, probably the best game I played on this jam.
Hahahaha thanks for playing! Even I had some trouble with the last level, so you're awesome if you beat it. I usually try to make extra hard final levels in jams, so I can fully explore all the mechanics.
Good idea, it's pretty cool to both push the character, protect him while also protecting ourself. The mix of all this makes it interesting, and the presentation (visuals and audio) are matching well with the game. The progression works well, but it becomes quite hard for me when there are spikes and bats everywhere. Good job doing this in 2 days !
Thanks for playing! I'm a bit of a fan of challenging games, so my games end up also being quite hard :P. Hopefully it still felt fair despite the difficulty.
good game! quite polised for a jam title. Impressive

Thanks! I spent quite a bit of my time in polishing, so it's nice to see it paid off in the end.
This was the right mix of fun and challenging! 5/5 overall, fantastic artwork, music, and concept :)
I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
I like the idea its super original! I always wanted to do a shield wielding game where your main ability is too bash things
Thanks for playing! It was very fun developing around this mechanic, I would love to see different takes on it.
This is really fun! Honestly, I'm not sure what I'd like to see improved on this, since it's already very well made. I think the only thing I don't really agree with is the decision to put the controllable character's health on the corner of the screen, instead of under the character like the other guy.
I had also encountered a bug where the uncontrollable character goes back and forth near the coin and doesn't collect it. Can't seem to reproduce the bug, though.
Thanks for playing! The original design for the controllable character's health was as you describe. However, the healthbar was blocking the shield in certain angles, so I had to change it :(. I do agree that it would look better, and would also be more intuitive.
Also, thanks for the bug report! It will certaintly be fixed in the post-jam update.
Very good. 5 outta 5. I enjoyed it a lot. This is practically a full game.
Thanks for playing!
This was a really awesome submission. The visual and audio styles work great with each other. Its a novel concept that fits the theme really well. My only complaint is that I couldn't understand for a while why i couldn't shield bash. Having some sort of meter fill that indicates when you can or cant bash would help a lot with that.
Thanks for playing! About the shield bash: that's weird, you should always be able to shield bash. A friend of mine had a similar problem, are you using a touchpad?
I am using a touchpad. I just had another game do the same thing so it must be me! I’ll go back and try it out with a mouse.
Nice play on the theme and good progression of difficulty. Very fun! Thanks for making this :)
Thanks for playing!
I really like your game, the arts are great and gameplay reminds me of Ico in PS2 but in 2D.
Well done!!!!
Thanks for playing!
Holy shit how did you manage all of this in 48 hours? Amazing work!
Hahaha I did it by spending an unhealthy amount of time in it. Thanks for playing!
