How does your game fit the theme?
In our game taking damage gives rage. Maxing out rage makes you lose control of your saxophone in favor of a melee frenzy which will in turn make you lose access to a musical note for a short period of time.

really fun to play! super impressed with the visuals and the concept, very cool! felt really satisfying to actually learn the spells and then type them out lightning fast. the music was really nice, and I like how the key songs link in to the opening melody of the songs that play after the level ends. i also like how the game auto-aims for you at the nearest target. super helpful!

only criticism i would add is that the inability to use a key after rage mode makes it more of a hindrance than a help, because after rage mode i basically have no health and can't use many of my spells(especially the healing spell). i imagine this was added to debuff the healing spell and prevent the player from healing endlessly, but maybe consider using a cool-down on the healing spell instead. also the movement control could be a bit smoother.

overall, great job!

Hey, thanks for the review! The key loss is meant to be a small debuff/punishment in return for going into the rage state, so it is meant to hurt a bit. The note it disables is random but the heal spell uses a wide variety of notes so the odds are high that that one gets unusable, punishing the health lost that put you in rage to begin with. I'm glad you enjoyed the game though!

One of the best games so far! Well done!

I really love the Out of Control theme being the spin and break mechanic! Doubles as punishment and a second life because you're invincable during it but you lose a note when you come out of it.

And multiple songs needing varying amounts of keys is a very good balancing mechanic. Powerful songs such as heal needing a lot while basic attacks needing just a few.

Took a while for me to get used to W actually moving diagonally up instead of straight up lol

Only real issues is how you can get seemingly stuck on the terrain quite easily and that the wind shield lasts so short that it's impractical to use as a parry especially since this is in a game where it takes non-zero amount of time to "charge/type" your attacks.

Awesome game!

Great art and great concept. The games was pretty fun to play. The spells systems was a cool idea. Nice job!

That was a pretty cool concept! Like a mix between Magicka and Zelda's Ocarina of time.  Took me a second to figure out how to read the music, I probably should have checked the, "How To Play" section lol. But once I figured it out I was kicking some butt!

I really like the art, sound, and overall mood. Definitely felt out of control, especially when you rage :P Using arrow keys but moving diagonal felt a little odd though.

Turning the ocarina from oot into a full game is a really cool idea! I love how you collect sheet music to unlock new abilities. The art is also really beautiful. Overall great entry!

Wow, very Zelda-esque with the music notes to do things, I really enjoyed that a lot. I loved playing the notes to activate the key at the end of the level especially, and it felt very cool to finally learn the healing / lightning spells from memory so I could spam them and feel powerful. Kudos!

loved the song mechanic! the wasd controls can feel a little clunky at times, but the variety in spells/songs and music made this very enjoyable :)

I played your game on my stream-- the volume is a little low on my audio but if you're interested in watching the VOD is saved here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/678851941

Very solid game. I didn't realize how to switch songs, but I did complete the game. Extremely strong aesthetic, both art and music wise, and very polished gameplay. The only bad thing imo was the super weirdo player movement, but even with that I don't really think this fits the theme too well. Well done, I rated highly

Love the concept, aesthetics and overall feeling of the game. Learning the new songs was great, took me a few times to get it right. Would be nice to have seen the notes when I pressed them, so I knew I pressed the correct one.

Also moving could use some polish. But overall great work!

The animation's are amazing. It was hard to learn all the controls but after finishing the first level I got the hang of it.

Quite a good idea! I enjoyed the song mechanics, and feel there's a lot of potential there. Controls were a bit tricky, and I'd love to see different keybindings to make it easier to swap between songs. Liked the aesthetic a lot and had a very good time with the game.

I'm a sucker for games about music (heck, my last jam game had music-making as a major feature), I loved this. The aesthetic here is tight, and really well put together. The difficulty felt like it was right about the right level. I was kind of reminded of Magicka, which is great. Not sure if that was intentional.

My only notes are pretty minor ones:

- I wish the music notes played on key down instead of playing every frame while held: the samples are lovely, but become kind of messy if you hold a key a touch long

- As someone without a numpad on any of my available keyboards, I had to do some kind of awkward contortions to play melodies, and never really managed to do it well while also moving around. Not sure what, if anything you could do to alleviate that? Customizable controls maybe, but that's too much to ask for a jam game haha.

- I'm not sure if it's a bug, but it seemed moving around changed what song I had highlighted in the UI? Super minor, but if you're considering expanding this out into a larger game, it's something that might be worth looking into.

Very good game. I really like the presentation and the note spells were very cool. Reminded me of Wizard Wars or other games like it.

Cool Legend of Zelda reference. Loved the music mechanic and the fact that some notes where disabled for a while. Also the rage mechanic was intresting. Cool game and great take on theme. Only walking took my a moment to get used to it. Awesome game!

The movement keys being rotated to fit the perspective makes the game very difficult for me to play.

Other than that, it's a cool game with a unique idea.
