How does your game fit the theme?
This game is a metroidvania driving game with light puzzle elements where you can't control your car's speed. Instead, you use the terrain to raise and lower your speed to access new areas of the facility. With only the ability to steer left and right, things get out of control fast.

As with all games, I wish there was a way to skip the intro story! I like the concept of an AI gone rogue, but with over 5,000 games to play and me trying to get in as many reviews as possible, it's asking a lot of us to sit through unskippable story. A good way to have retained the story would have been to incorporate it into the levels, even if it's as simple as a text box at the bottom of the boss demanding the AI stop disobeying orders as the player crashes through barriers.

That said, I do really like this concept. I wished the maps and roads were a little larger and the sand penalty more forgiving, because I couldn't get too far before I exploded. Narrower roads could have been implemented later for challenges and rewards, while still allowing the player to  cruise through the meat of the game.

The game had a good feel, though. The times I was able to maintain control it felt fun, which is vitally important! Add some drift abilities in there and I'd be hooked!

Controls are a bit fiddly for me, but i really like the concept. It's just really hard to stay on the road, and once you've been slowed down a bit much it gets kinda borring :) Also, i thing the first green door up doesn't work?

Developer

Thanks! Yea it definitely is a bit tough of a game, the road widths or the turn sensitivity could use some touch-ups. And wait which green door? The one to your immediate left in the starting area? I dont believe there are any other green doors, in the main roundabout area the one going northwards is yellow

Yeah that may be why then... It looked green on my screen. Strange. Maybe a combinaison of colors then...

Developer

Ah yea that is unfortunate. Given more time we for sure would've tried to tweak how we convey that speed system, color felt good on first glance but might have it's own problems with clarity.

This is a nice game idea i liked it !

Thank you so much!

Great idea for a mechanic, would love to see this expanded!

I had a bit of trouble distinguishing the yellow and orange speed states though, sometimes the barriers looked like they needed yellow speed but ended up being orange. I agree that widening the roads a little bit, even just at the beginning, would make it a bit easier to get to grips with how the car handles.

Also, the option to skip the intro would be nice, but only because I accidentally closed the game twice and had to sit through it again.

Overall, a really solid entry, spend a lot more time with it compared to other games. Good job!

Developer

Thanks so much! Yea the yellow vs. orange was definitely a problem. Turns out it's actually hard to convey the color orange with lighting, it just always ends up looking yellow. If we had the time we for sure wanted to try to sort that out or change our coloring convention. And I agree with doubling up some road widths too! The intro was a last minute addition, but yea a skip would be smart.

Wow this was really good!

I wasn't expecting almost an exploration/puzzle game!

The speed mechanic is super neat and the writing is cool too.

Congratulation.

Thank you so much! Glad you liked it.

Good Game one of the best I've played so far.   I actually  wanted to keep playing but more games must be rated.

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much! That's great to hear!

I really enjoyed the story on this one, but the controls were way too touchy for how narrow those roads are. It also would have been nice if the checkpoints started you off facing the right direction. There were many times where I respawned facing perpendicular to the road, and lost almost right away. With a few tweaks, I can imagine this being a really fun game!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for letting me know about the checkpoints, we actually did have them configured to have you face the correct direction. And I never ran into any cases where it didnt work for me, but that is good to know and Ill take a look to hopefully fix that for the future!

I really like the idea, the controls were pretty difficult to get the hang of though

Developer

Thanks! And yea it was tough to straddle the line of the "out of control" theme, making it a bit hectic, but still ensuring that it wasn't frustrating to play. It could've definitely used more tweaking given the time

I got a little stuck on some parts of the levels. Overall it is a fun game, a slider for sensitivity would have been neat, it is a tad fast on controller.

Developer

Yea, it's definitely fast (it used to be faster before we toned it down haha). We wanted to make sure it felt a little 'out of control' of course, but we definitely could've overdone it. Sensitivity is a really good idea though, thanks!
