Oh, this was fun! I love the simple nature of the mechanic but how much you can do with it. And the idea of having indirect control over your main source of attack is really genius. My only nitpick is that I think the tongue should travel further.
Great job.
It took me waaay too long to figure out how to properly attack the towers so I just kept dying over and over in the beginning but once I figured it out it became quite enjoyable.
It took me a second to get, but I liked having to amass a little "army" to take on bigger guys. A couple times I'd lose my whole squad and not be able to tell why, but other than that I had a good time!
Good Game!!
Mine is worst of all games!!!
Really nice game, the aesthetics are cute and fit the sound effects and music choice really well, the controls were well balanced with the frog being just fast enough to move through things, and thank the heavens for your foresight in adding the dash option for panic moments when the frog is alone.
I only have one complaint, since the followers work in a "snake mechanic" where if the chain is broken anyone along that chain will be defeated, regardless of how much health it had, it would be wiser to make it so the newer enemies added to the chain are added closer to the frog rather than at the end of the length, otherwise those already hurt if hit will make it so we lose followers too easy... I hope I was clear enough.
Great suggestion - my thinking was that by having weaker allies attached closer you'd have to pay more attention to protecting them, but if I get around to updating this post-jam I'll definitely try your suggestion out!
By the way, do you have a game submitted in the jam? It doesn't appear to be attached to your account.
yeah I do, it just wasn't submitted through my account, it's name is "Gnome along"
me and my team are still working to implement what we couldn't while the jam was running (for after it's finished) so what we have is just a snippet.
Right on, I'll check it out! For future reference, if you edit your game page, click more > admins and add your account as an admin, the game will show up under your name as well, even if you weren't the account that submitted it.
Cool game, I the lasso idea is fun. I think it is worth adding a couple easy tutorials to make sure the player knows what to do -- I'll admit I didn't read the instructions, and I don't think most people do. Still a fun game, and I think this idea has potential!
Haha, understandable! I like to think of myself as a patient person but I too have found myself skipping through most tutorial text in jam games. Ran out of time to do a proper tutorial, but I was hoping that having the log in front of the first enemy would let the player figure out the basics relative safety - did that work out for you?
Thanks for playing!
Fair enough, I did read the first couple sentences though! I don't remember exactly what I did the first time, but I remember after a couple tries I figured out what I needed to do . In any case, nice work.
cool little game!
One issue: it's a bit too easy to just skip all enemies
Ah, you're right! The win condition was supposed to be capturing all the enemies, but I ran out of time to implement it. Thanks for playing!
love this so much!! i was so excited when i finally linked the boss
only complaint is the audio didn't work for me for some reason, but the art alone was cute enough
Thanks so much for your comment! Dang the audio didn't work? That's a bummer, sorry about that. Thank you for letting us know, we'll look into it!
Brilliant aesthetic! 20/20!
Thank you so much!
Love the artwork and the aesthetic in general, lassoing with a frog tongue is a fun idea!
Thank you! Your love is appreciated!
fun and enjoyable concept. The only thing I'd add is more animation with the player & enemies/allies. 15/15
Thanks, Aaron! Yes, we had plans but ran out of time, big bummer :( We will try implement after the jam. Thanks again!!
