Hey, loved the game, I thought it was really interesting and challenging once you got a hang of the controls. It gets to hectic with the low time intervals.

I think you could easily improve this with a few small changes to your Unity Physics2D settings, no programming necessary. If you increase the fixed timestep in the project settings all your physics will behave better, I usually take it from the default 1/50 second to 1/120 interval. Similarly it would be worth experimenting with different Rigidbody2D collision modes, continuous speculative may have worked well. Ultimately however, there is no solution to the sort of physics problems that arise in this game because you are creating physically impossible scenarios.

Take a look at these if you're interested

During the Jam, I tested changing the timestep to 1/90, but it didn't seem to change much. Clearly I should have pushed it a little further, because changing it to 1/120 fixes it a whole ton! Thanks. That GDC talk was also super helpful, much appreciated - I increased the gravity and it feels less floaty now.

The low time intervals are definitely too hectic! But I'm glad you like the game :) Thanks heaps!

Really cool concept I really would like a trail to tell me where the other end is going to go but it is a very unique idea that I would love to see more of!

I love this idea, and think it could make for a very fun physics puzzle game, but currently held back by subpar physics, causing the bar to go through the ball when moving to quick. This necessitates careful movement, but that's very difficult to do with the current setup. I'd love to see some extra player feedback and/or reset button to aid in careful lifting and other manoeuvres. But since a game jam is for presenting an idea and its +s and -s, I'd say you well succeeded.

Very interesting idea, I liked it. But I think you need to improve line-ball collisions

This is very creative and was pretty fun too!

Like other said, this is a very fun and silly game -- the controls take a while to get used to, but once I had a hang of them I really enjoyed it.  There is a lot of space for the player to creative, and that is always great in my book!

Fun and Silly game. I like It.

I would be very happy if you would play my game.

Very clever use of the theme! I've seen a lot of connected-through-space games so far, but this is the first connected-through-time game, and it makes for some good puzzles. It felt very satisfying to once I had a strategy that worked consistently. The escalating music is also a very good detail!

I think the only thing that felt off for me was that the red ball would clip through the wall if you went too fast. Other than that, fun game!

Such a cool little mechanic, I think the only thing it's missing is momentum, like when I punch the ball from below, it should launch upwards. Really enjoyed this :)

Very interesting concept. I had fun, but it took me a while to get it, so maybe a tutorial would have been nice. Other than that I loved the experience!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Yes, I agree that a tutorial would have been good, or at least an indicator on where to place the cursor on the first level, so you'd get the idea? I'm glad you like it though! :)

Ohhh! This is a really cool interpretation of the theme! I really hope you get into the top 100 games at least! Very unique!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I spent a decent chunk of my time trying to come up with a unique concept. & That's very very kind of you to say! I hope so as well :)

Very fun! It felt like I was playing with another person and it took me a while to get the hang of it but once I did I really enjoyed it! I love the interpretation of the theme and I haven't seen other games playing with time like this! Great job!

I really got the feeling of playing with somebody else even though it was just my input several seconds ago which was really unique. Never played anything like it!

Really fun game, original concept! I got to the first .5s level before I got a bit stuck, the ball clips through a lot when you have to move fast to get any length to your "paddle" which I didn't really find any easy workarounds for except trying to bounce it with the edge like a pinball which had varying degrees of success. Really enjoyed it, great job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! Yeah, the last 2 levels (0.5 and 0.3) are very difficult, especially with the line clipping through. But when deciding between having them or finishing the game at 1s, I though I might as well keep it in. It might have worked if the ball didn't clip as much. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow this was a really unique idea.

Had some issues with clipping but other than that, really cool. Enjoyed it alot! Well done

I really like the idea, very unique :D
Sometimes the ball chipps through the line though :c

Quite interesting! Feels buggy though, even if it's probably not, as if the line goes too fast across the ball, they stop colliding! I would have preferred (seems more intuitive) that the line was a 100% concrete object.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I agree, I would have also prefered that! I spent a while trying to get the line to be more concrete, but I couldn't figure it out in time. Thanks for playing!

The game is incredibly fun! I also really enjoyed the music throughout the levels, it all felt faster when the difference between times got smaller. Really nice game, though in the end it got quite difficult.

Submitted(+1)

Really hard! But interesting and creative. The ball keeps clipping through the line, which is a bit frustrating

Submitted(+2)

This mechanic is very clever! I also like the simplistic artstyle and music. It fits the game very well. The game is a bit hard but I like it nonetheless. Great job!
