Very cute and straightforward.  I liked the environment the music added, made it really feel like the frogs were naturally having fun somehow even without froglike animations. :D
Don't really have any criticisms that haven't been levied - I do agree on the animations being odd, but you did well keeping it inside jam scope ^_^  Thanks for the fun game!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you feel like we nailed the vibe  with the music :D

I think its decently likely that we'll make this into a finished small game with much upgraded art and more mechanics drip fed in; I feel like peoples' main criticisms are all polish based, which would make such a thing possible

I liked it a lot! The puzzles were great and the idea was simple but was utilized in creative enough ways that made each puzzle engaging. I loved the music too! It could have been nice if the jumps were quicker (and also if the jump animation was a little smoother but thats very minor).

Developer

Thank you very much! Funnily enough, you're the first person to mention the music at all; I genuinely think people must think the music is copied from the internet because I slyly think I did damn well in that department but you're the first one to say anything on it :(

You're defo right about the jump. we had noooo idea how to code a sensible parabola in 4 different directions for different lengths whilst being able to land on different heights of frogs, so we just put in whatever worked, really.

I'm glad you had fun with it :D

Interesting idea for puzzle-solving as positioning and careful calculation with not only frogs but also the standing grounds. Although the movement can be a bit faster and more sensitive. Well done!

Developer

Thank you! My boyfriend came up with the puzzle mechanics and at first I thought it wouldn't be possible to make small complex puzzles, but it turns out with the lilypads in play its very easy to make really complex but small puzzles

I really liked it. The puzzles are really good. Great job.

Developer

thank you! Im glad you had a good time

So much fun! The puzzles were well designed and kept me engaged. My only suggestion is to make it clearer that the bottom frog determines the movement. Awesome game, excellent execution, great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Its a good point you make; whilst i think the onboarding is decent in the game you've pointed out a place where it needs to be clearer

Man you make the movement faster and you have yourself a PERFECT puzzle game experiance! I love the concept of stacking the frogs. adding the unique frog types with different movement is a great addition. Then you introduce the concept of the stacks moving based on what frog is on bottom!? FANTASTIC! loved it

Your comment has made me very happy, thank you so much! You are 100% right on the fastness of the jump but that was polish we just did not have time to implement sadly. still, i think we might make this into a full game so maybe you'll see the polished version in the future

Nice game ! I like the variety of the levels, which have a perfectly balanced difficulty. Art and sound are awesome too. After the jam, please make more levels and a bit of graphical polishing :)

Developer

Your comment has given me more motivation to make it into a fully polished game with more levels and mechanics! thank you!

This was an incredibly clever puzzle game. The concept is simple, yet I haven't really played anything like it before. The puzzle design for each level was pretty good as well. It could use some polish on the jumping animations. Also, some small effects such as the selection arrows bobbing up and down, or the currently selected frog being highlighted could go a long way to making the controls feel more reactive. Overall amazing work though.

Developer

Thank you for the detailed reveiw! You are entirely right about the polish aspects; we simply ran out of time. I think we only had a working product half an hour before the deadline, so there was no time for animations and such

Godot for the win!! Nice and clean, love the frogs!

Developer

yeeeees! and thanks for the art love :D

Submitted(+1)

Good to see another Godot game (i think!). Fun concept, the transitions and animation could be a bit snappier, other than that, well done!

Developer

godot for the win!!!!

yes polish was greatly needed; i think the last game jam we did being 72 hours made us a little too relaxed on the first day

I really love the art and the concept of the game. ^^

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Funnily enough, it was originally going to be a drawn game, but my boyfriend got frustrated so he made pixel assets instead

Neat little puzzle game.

Cool puzzle game, nice art, movement of the frog is weird

Developer(+1)

we didn't have time for polish, and had no idea how to do a parabola to a varying height/backwards convincingly, so we just didn't xD

Well-designed puzzles and great art. Well done!

Developer

thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Submitted(+1)

I have to agree with the other commenters, the puzzles are designed in a very engaging way with a great difficulty curve.

Developer(+1)

I'm so pleased people enjoyed the level desgin, thank you very much :D

This is a really cool concept.  I think you did a great job on the layout of the levels, and the game does a great job of teaching how to play.  I think the animations can use some work, the movement and speed of the jumps just need a little more polish.  Overall, nice work!

Developer(+1)

thank you for the feedback! You're 100 right on the polish points; we didn't come up with the idea early enough. The only game jam we've done before was a 72 hour one, so I think we were a little lax on Saturday so tonnnnnes of polish had to be left out.

I'm very glad you like my level design though :D I had a lot of fun milling around with coins and bits of paper on a chessboard whilst my boyfriend did the actual hardwork xD

Submitted(+1)

Super cool game. Could use some animations and a few improvements with the buttons but the great levels make more than up for it.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah we really ran out of time on this one: animations, quality of life and scenery all fell by the way side in the end. Still, I'm very glad you think my level design was good!
