Reilly cool game! I like the steal mechanic! I think this game could work in a real multiplayer :)
How did you manage to implement the enemy AI?
Thanks! The AI is really simple, it iterates through every card in its hand until it finds a valid placement and then picks that card. If there is no valid placements, it picks a random card. I hope that answers your question.
Love the hand drawn aesthetic! Great job! I can see myself playing this frequently with a bit more polish and animations!
Interesting concept for sure. Trickier than it seems at first glance, strategy-wise. Loved the aesthetic and overall presentation as well. Nice work :)
I accidentally cheated and got yelled at ;o;
This is such a cute game!! I really love the presentation and characters.
The art and music are cool and well made. I liked the reactions of the characters and the overall art-style of the game with the relaxing music in the background.
I think the concept of "reverse Uno" was lost somewhere in development because the goal of the AI is to still get to 0 cards (which is confusing since they are playing a different game than you) and the main goal of the game is not really to gain the most cards, but to make sets. I know making sets requires you to get more cards instead of getting rid of them, but in the end you are still getting rid of cards and I think it would have been more fitting for the theme to instead see who can get the most amount of cards in a certain number of turns with some added gameplay elements (like the -2 card which is pretty clever).
Even though it is confusing as I said earlier, having to win before the AI gets rid of all their cards is a cool gameplay loop, especially with the stealing mechanic since that is the only real way to gain a higher number of cards and is something that I have never seen before (excluding from real life games with friends) and is fun to do. In addition, seeing what the AI are going to play next adds a neat sense of strategy and is a very smart addition to the game, giving more thought and depth on what to steal and what card to play next.
Sorry for writing you an essay (this is my 3rd time today, I don't know if it is a problem).
Thanks for all the feedback! I designed the sets mechanic because as you said it still technically requires getting more cards and was more fun in playtesting then just getting more cards. I was a little disappointed that the theme was lost with this decision but it was definitely more fun.
Hey, if more fun was the cost of diverting from the Jam theme a bit, then it is 100% worth it.
My rambling may (or may not) have some truth to it, but it is a lot easier to say something than to implement it, and just writing down a concept or an idea is not the same as actually fully making it and playing it. So in other words, being a developer is a lot harder and more complex than just being a critic with observations.
great stuff, the characters are really cool i love your art style
Charming game. I did not understand everything I did but still had some fun ahah
Good job!
The art is SO cute. Loved the cheating detail.
The art in this is insanely cute! I want more of the character reactions!! Unfortunately, I cheated one too many times and lost ^^ but it was worth it to see their cute faces!!
omg thank u so much theyre my ocs so they mean a lot to me lol !!! sometimes its better to cheat and lose than 'play fair' and win ...
the art is amazing! the ""cheater illustrations are amazing, for real insanely beautiful.
The rules are fine, i think everything works fine at the moment, you just need some time to get into the game and to understand it properly.
Really good job
haha thank you the illustrations were a ton of fun to make so im glad u liked them ^^
Really cool vibe overall :)
The main rules were a bit confusing to me at times, and it seemed quite hard to win, because I could rarely build a set successfully with the low number of card draws, and low chance to steal. But it's a really interesting concept and well executed overall!
Fun game, the art was amazing!
Cute game! I especially like how snappy it feels and the fact there is a nice tutorial that's quite clear.
I didn't like as much how different the roles of you and "the other players" are. Since only the player loses if somebody has no cards left, the best strategy for the AI players if you get close to three sets should be to steal until they have no cards left, losing you the game.
Fun game, a bit confusing, I have no clue how to win but I had fun. is there a way to call out other players for cheating? or can they only call you out?
You gotta make sets! I recommend playing the tutorial if you did not.
Great art and a unique game
Loved everything about the art of this game; from the characters to the UI, it's all very pleasing. The UI in particular is very clear and easy to read.
It took me a bit to get my head around the concept; when it states the idea is to get sets of cards, I assumed my goal was to have a massive hand, however handing in a set still feels like you're emptying your hand. I'd love to see a way to utilize and maintain a large number of cards in your hand to emphasize that reversed Uno concept.
I love the option to Steal, good odds balance for how powerful it can be.
First of all, it seems like there are some bugs that can impact the gameplay (or maybe I didn't understand everything) :
Anyway, great game! I had a lot of fun playing it! Would love to see a multiplayer version!
The game is really fun ! I also love the art style
Cheating never felt so right.
Fun little game. The mechanics are quick to learn and everything has so much character.
Art was awesome all around, sound effects and music complemented each other.
Good Job!
Love the art style, and the game is fun.
