Hm, the actions did not seem to work - clicking an action and then on the board did not do anything for any of the actions ;w;
On the linux build
I’ve tested it on Linux and they should work - it’s just that most actions are quite contextual and there is a mana limit, both if which isn’t particularly well communicated in the jam version. We’ll update the game with highlighted tiles and better UX after the review period.
I see! I heard the indicator sound effects for those actions which were unavailable, but even those that made a sound that indicated success didn't seem to have an effect. I look forward to trying again after the jam!
Nice game! I played on stream, here is the VOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFKeESVn2kc
Great visuals! Very impressive for a 48-hour jam.
The Concept is well done, fits the jam theme well. I really like that the best strategy for survival isn't to grow more, but rather try to prevent the conflict in the first place, although mountains are way too overpowered.
If there's one thing, I would recommend adding to post-release or any future game is a good tutorial. Walls of texts are way better than nothing, but showing which tiles you can use which ability, disabling abilities you can't use and adding easier levels that teach each mechanic one by one would be ideal.
Linux version crashes for me randomly, honestly, it might be a Godot 4.1 issue for all I know, so I won't judge you for that.
Couldn't really go very far with crashes, but it's a nice concept with great visuals.
I love the art and theme, but I feel like the mechanics could use a real tutorial
At first it was unclear what was happening, and I assumed it was a kind of tower defense game. However, after I realised the units were targeting eachother not the trees, I found the concept very interesting. I quickly realised building up 4 trees and using mountains every turn to be a strategy that was perhaps too effective for most of the levels, but with further development and increase in level complexity I could see it being a real head-scratching puzzle game where you need to read the unit AI an plan moves effectively using a variety of the tools. Great job!
The web build is broken but I ran the linux version well enough. The idea of the game is good but it was difficult to understand when I was actually doing something or that what I had selected was done.
Nice game, but it took me a while to understand how to play. By the way, it looks really good.
Can sadly not load the game and am stuck at "Loading game for the first time..."
try to download it, the web build is broken rn
Liked the theme, but it took me some time until I figured out how to play
