The best execution of the "you are the level" concept i've seen in the jam yet. Good mix of puzzle and skill (even if hectic at points as others said).

Not sure if you intend to continue it (or polish) post jam but I could give some ideas on improving controls if you are interested.

Really nice touch with the "thank you for playing" screen!

I love it! It's pretty polished and the levels are very creative. The player AI works flawlessy and the possession mechanic makes it quite smooth to play it.

It does get a bit hectic at the later levels, maybe if the player or enemies were a little slower it could be less frustrating. But even then it's still a fantastic entry, congrats!

Oh this is sweet! Clever idea with an execution that makes it feel both cute and intense, which isn't easy! It did feel a bit finicky at times when choosing an object and activating in quick succession, but the slow mo helped in most cases! But still, it gives off mayor Celeste vibes which is fantastic, so great work! :D

nice idea you got there! just amazing!

Love this game, I think it's awesome! Really glad you chose a fast pace compared to many similar games that have gone slow and methodical instead. Some great uses of mechanics such as being a bounce pad to bounce enemies into spikes. Love the creativity and style of it all. Awesome submission!

Also, a small bug report: I moved a coin behind the flag, then possessed something else, then clicked back to the coin and the game clearly got a bit confused and froze, totally unable to go on. Had to restart it all. Either I misunderstood it or it was a strange but, but wanted to just say!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

I'm aware of the bug, although the way you reproduced it I was never aware of. It's because after the player collects the coin and there's something else to possess it will go into "possession vision" which slows down time a lot, and if you press "next level" the transition animation will take around 5-10 seconds to complete.

Great game, very frantic but it was so satisfying to pull off those possession combos. The elevator music was a cute touch too! I noticed you could possess the flag at the end - could I do that the whole time and I just didn't notice?! Was it a cut feature or just a fun lil easter egg?

Developer

What items you can possess depends on the level, there's however no indication in the game why you can't possess certain things.

Possessing the flag at the end is more of an easter egg, it's actually a coin reskinned as a flag that works like a flag... Because I was too lazy to make a flag work with possession mechanics properly.

super well made game loved it. All the art is amazing and the character moves exactly how you expect them too which is hard to do. amazing job

I really like the mechanic, also nice presentation, neatly put together with a nice UI. The audio fits the gameplay, got locked out by a bug but for the rest it plays really well. Really fun to play!

The mechanic was implemented really cleanly, having the controls on screen was really smart. The slow motion effect great too, and funky music! Good job :)

Wow this is an amazing concept and an amazing looking game! Wouldn't be surprised if this has a solid chance of making it to the top 100 games! Gameplay itself is so unique that it would serve as a good theme for a full game I would think. Very good idea.

A couple minor critiques:
1. The level with the three enemies in a row coming right for you, I'm not sure if it was glitched, but the QWEASD keys disappeared that show you what keys to try. I then couldn't figure out what to do, it said I could select the little thing on the floor but pressing all the keys did nothing.
2. I might just be slow at these types of games, but everything seemed a bit fast. Like it usually took me a few deaths a level to even have an idea what to do. I wonder if maybe having the game pause initially so you can get a lay of the land first, then press a key when you are ready for it to begin. Also maybe slowing down the item selection even more might help too.

Other than the above though I think this is a fantastic game and a great entry into the jam! Amazing work here!!

Thank you for the feedback!

1. QWEASD display is mainly a tutorial to teach players what each item can do, so I didn't put it afterward, maybe I should've. Trampolines don't have any visual and sound notification when you use them, only when an enemy or player is on them, so that's probably what caused a confusion.

2. Yea, I knew it might've been an issue, but in the end I kinda forgot about it, oops.

Great game! Took me a moment to understand it, but once I did was very fun

A very cool game, loved it! Quite confusing at start - I didn’t really understand what the Q and E buttons do, it seemed like Q makes the player pick up coins nearby, E makes him open doors, something like that. So, a longer and more gradual tutorial would be cool.

Nice difficulty curve, I had to think for a while before I could pass some of the levels.

I stumbled on a bug when if you end the level while in object selection mode (after pressing Q), the whole game is slowed down, including the level transition, so I had to wait something like 20-30 seconds for the next level to load :)

I reached the thing where the player just stands on a plate, not sure if this is the end?

Developer(+1)

I should've added icons for each behavior like possession (object selection), special ability (like opening doors), I think that might've removed some of the confusion.

I know about the bug, I felt it was rare enough that nobody will notice, so I wouldn't have to fix it for the jam, oh well.

It's not the end of the game, you can possess the platform and go down and finish it.

Thank you for the feedback!

Very fun! Feels like a mix of game elements from Ghost Trick, Baba Is You, and a platformer all in one!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed this one a lot! The game is very polished and the mechanics are explored to a large extent. Love the idea of being able to control everything but the player.

Submitted(+1)

The main problem with the game is that it isn't longer.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, really cool concept! I like the possession and control ideas to assist the protagonist. I got stuck on the level with the three bad guys in a row. I tried to possess one like previous levels, but didn't seem to work. Overall though fantastic idea and execution. I think you have the beginning of something that could grow a lot more!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

As for the reason why you couldn't possess them it's intentional, I should've added an indicator to say why, my bad.

You can complete the level by closing the door after the player comes through it and using the trampoline on the enemies at the top.
