AMAZING GRAPHICS! Really liked the idea of platforming in the dark too :)
Neat idea! The art style certainly suits the game's interpretation of the theme, and the mostly dark levels are an interesting twist on the classic platformer gameplay.
Really like the graphics of this one. Sticking to a limited palette really does a lot for enhancing how cohesive it all feels (plus the pixel art is nice too of course!) It's cool that you made your own sound too, always nice to see. My only complaint would be that it would be nice if dying didn't reset you back to the start of the game, and that enemies shoot a bit quick. It might also be cool if the projectiles lit up the stage as well. The embedded resolution is also a bit small perhaps, though fullscreen is an option at least. Nice work!
This was a pleasant experience!
The visuals, sound design, and gameplay are all really well done and made of a nice overall experience. It was a very creative take on the jam theme as well!
I ran into no bugs or glitches during gameplay so the game is polished up very well!
Great work!
Great work!
The game is challenging and very fun!
Nice work, it looks fantastic. I love the transitions and the "absorb light" FX.
The music is great also, and the difficulty progression on the levels was on point. I don't play much platformers so it was a bit difficult for me.
But great game, congrats!
The art and color pallet and music was all very on point! That being said, I do wish you could replay from the level you lost from, as it can make it frustrating if you get stuck on a level. It isn't that bad though, as I did like how fast you could complete the levels if you knew what you were doing. Although I think the idea of the light stealing mechanic is interesting, it does feel like it lacks a point in many of the levels, where you are better off just running through as fast as possible and ignoring the enemies, as you are so fast you can make it through before they throw a single projectile. That being said, I still really enjoyed this little game.
It was really cool, nice art too !
nice art style!
Cool art style and cool concept!
look of the game definitely is great! and I do like that you didn't simply reverse the role of two things, but the "role" of the object (stealing light).
Well done!
I'm glad you all seem to enjoy the artwork! We'll take note of the gameplay and level design. Thank you for the criticism and feedback!
After the submission period, we'll make the game easier to play and enjoy, and probably expand upon it.
Really good idea! It was a little hard to maneuver the platforms since you could not see them, but overall, I love the idea :)
Beautiful game and interesting mechanics. I liked the design of the levels in the dark which gave a very interesting exploation aspect. I would have liked checkpoints for each room and a few more levels to dig deeper into the game a bit.
I really love the old school feeling of the game and the graphics are lovely. But as other said, platforming was not so intuitive for me.
I join the others who already commented about the game. The mechanics aren't intuitive. We are taught through gameplay that we absorb light from things, so our brain says "yes i want to absorb". But actually those things are also ennemies, so you want to avoid them? And the platforming aspect is a bit tricky in all that darkness, even if I get it's the point to be in the dark.
But like others said too, it is visually pleasing and charming, and the game actually works, no bugs or anything on my side!
Having to start over from the beginning after each death would have been an issue were the game longer, and the art was sometimes a tad disorientating, but shows a lot of promise.
A little confusing, nice graphics.
Well made art and sound effects, however the gameplay felt a little confusing.
