Super fun implementation of the theme! Well done
Thanks!
The difficulty is too high from the get-go, slow readers are bound to fail. I do like the idea, though. This could be a game about political censorship in a tyrannical regime.
Yeah, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to develop a system which slowly introduced the mechanics instead of throwing the player into the proverbial deep end. I'll keep in mind how long those take to develop and, more importantly, how crucial they can be to a good player experience for next time though!
Definitely getting papers please vibes here - would've liked to play with a ramp up in the policies, it was difficult to keep track of everything right from the get go. Well put together :)
Very interesting, reminds me of papers please
My high score was 21! This was fun, took me a couple tries to get a hold on the policies, but after that I really only wanted more different email types!
Well done! Glad you enjoyed.
I would've liked to have been able to keep the policies open while filtering through emails, as I couldn't remember the rules easily :)
If it wasn't obvious, Papers Please influenced the design of this game quite a bit, and originally I'd wanted to have the rulebook be a physical thing that you could drag up from the bottom of the screen, but for time's sake I ended up with a UI element that conflicted with the email. For a future version, though, I think that would be a great goal to aim for.
I can't believe the cat slander smdh ;) (v cute idea tho!)
Thanks! And as a half-canine, I'm obligated to slander cats ;)
you could tell a story through those emails maybe, and also make progressively more rules and also rules about handling attachments, like passports and visas or bombs
That's a really fun idea! I was going to try and get a system to start simple and add more rules over time as a stretch goal, but time didn't work in my favor there unfortunately.
