How does your game fit the theme?
Instead of driving on a road, you ARE the road and have cars driving on you. You need to carefully drive so the cars don't fall off or hit things while you help them get to their destinations.

Before even playing the game, can I just say that "Mystical Pigeons" is an ingenious name for a game dev team? Oh, and congrats on having Mark stream your game!

This is great! Controlling the road felt very intuitive, but still had enough challenge in parts of the map with more obstacles, and the highway mode timer and recharge were dialled in perfectly to make it incredibly useful in a tight spot but ensure that it couldn't be relied upon exclusively.

The little snippets of dialogue were a perfect addition, especially when I performed a less than perfect job - plenty of snark and sass haha

(p.s. loved reading about how you implemented the road further down in the comments - thanks for sharing!)

A very cool idea, had a lot of fun with it! The music really helps with the mood of the game!

I loved this, there is so much you could add to this game, I'd love to see future iterations! The vibe reminded me a lot of the classic The Simpsons: Hit & Run. Good job!

Amazing concept, well executed! Love the music too, it fits the game! Good Job!!!

The game is super fun!

I really liked the idea and the execution, it shows how a simple, a little bit crazy idea can turn into a very fun experience. I think the game would be just fine with just happening on the flatground, but You added the Highway mode which adds... well it adds another dimension to the game and it is super awesome that it was added.

When it comes to issues found during my playthrough I guess the only thing that was a slight problem for me were some visual aspecst, the Z-fight between road and train tracks and also the buildings looked a little bit jittery for me. Apart from that I didn't face any problems and the game actually performed well and seemed to be technically well-made.

While all assets were fitting well, the absolute standout is the music that is simply PERFECT for this game. Some people will have something against pre-made assets, but I think that choosing the right things to use is a skill on its own, and You did great in this department.

When it comes to potential improvements for a post jam future, I wish there was some kind of power-ups like system that would for example turn on slow motion or speed up cars, make the road wider or tighter, turn the road into slippery ice etc.

Despite being mostly a fan of puzzle games, a'la Riven etc. I really enjoyed the game. Keep up the great work and good luck in this and any future jams!

Oh I forgot, I really liked the slightly sarcastic writing :)

Well done a really great game... you should really expand on it!

Really nice idea and had fun playing this game :) The road mechanic works surprisingly well, I thought there would be a lot of lag but there wasn't! Maybe it could be improved if you added a time constraint or something to make it more challenging, but good job well done.

Road was fun to control and the music was on point. Overall great job!

Chat - "roads :thumbs up:" "carz" "the air traffic in this town is insane"

This is excellent, fantastic concept for the theme and so well put together. Struggled to put it down!

Really liked the concept and execution of this one, I wish I could give 6 stars in the "Creativity" field.

I've seen several "You play as the road" game during this gamejam, but I must say that your idea and implementation really takes the cake ! It's fun, it's smooth, it's creative AND there's some objectives. Really well done !

Amazing! I really loved the concept, and the presentation was top-notch too.

A wonderful idea, even if on the second playthrough after realising you could crash a car into a plane I spent longer trying to chase jumbos than actually delivering packaging.

The music was a wonderful touch though.

Really creative concept, that was a ton of fun! Neat deformation of the road mesh, that must have been fun to implement.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, and it was! The mesh itself is pretty simple, it's basically a line renderer that I add to every time my starting point (what you actually control) gets far enough away. I also record this info for the cars so they can sample it on a delay to more smoothly follow an ideal spoth on the path that you carve out.

The trickiest part of it was collisions. I tried just creating a mesh collider but this gave me all kinds of headaches due to it being concave when you go up and down, so instead it's a series of box colliders. Since they're boxes, the cars are more hovercrafts to avoid bouncing and they have to take a few samples of the ground to figure out what direction "up" is. This is also one of the reasons the road is so short, I was worried about creating too many colliders and crashing the game and didn't have time to figure out what a realistic limit would be.

Got to accidently enable a 10 car and 1 hot air balloon pile up. Top tier stuff. Great music.

One of the best game i have played so far for this game jam :D
Really fun with a creative concept. Maybe making the highway going faster over time could add more challenge.
