I like the game and that's a nice concept with an idle RPG with placing out your minions as a tactic to kill the player at the right level, I have nothing negative to say about this game, you did a good job

wow nice concept! feels like you really make a idle rpg out of this! not sure if this suggestion would be good but i thinking if you can allow the player to choose monster to fight!

The abilities coming in over time adds very good depth to the game! It was pretty fun, although I did get to level 99 on my second try, with 5 dragons being very powerful and killing the hero in only a few attacks. Still, it was pretty fun, and required some timing to spawn enemies right before the hero attacks, to avoid them taking damage!

Good job!

Great concept. The RPG version of not busting on a 21 haha. Some way to speed up encounters would be great so you can speed while power leveling and slow when you have to be more methodic

Developer(+1)

I like the metaphor to 21, kinda accurate haha! A speed-up button is probably the best add-on right now.

-Enjoyment: It's fun trying to keep the enemies coming out but not killing them too quickly!

-Creativity: This is an awesome idea and you should keep working on it!

-Presentation: Great basic starter art. If you added more game juice/feel and some upgrade UI it would be perfect!

-Neat game indeed!! Please check out my non-creative entry when you can :D

I appreciate how you decompose the into each category. Thanks!

Nicely composed. I like how some enemies just 1 shot him while others take time. This is one of those oddly satisfying jam games. Good work!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like it.

I like the idea that the challenge is to not kill them immediately but try and do balanced fights to level them up. Good take on the boss role reverse!

Developer

Thanks! I'm also proud of the idea haha.

Great game, love that hero learn new ability after leveling up

Developer

Thanks! I found the ability being a good way to make the game feel different and change the pace of it.

Hey another "You're the Boss" type game! Similar theme (but way different gameplay) to mine! I'm on a quest to find all the similar your the boss type games so let me know if you find others!

I really enjoyed this take on it! The beginning vaguely reminded me of like a calm relaxing easy fight in Runescape where you just watch them slowly level down each other. Out of curiosity I immediately killed the Dwarf character, and I loved how there's flavor text depending on when you end the game! I then got a Paladin, and played it until I got to the 90's, but then he was leveling pretty fast so I decided to throw all dragons at him and finished at 93.

I'd say my only slight complaint is that the beginning is a bit slow since you can really only send rats at the start. I wasn't sure if I would stick around for it to be much higher, but then after you get you first ability (like Pally's multihit) then leveling happens much faster so it's not that bad. Very idle like though lol.

Overall though I really enjoyed this take on the Boss genre. Really well done here!! Great work and good luck with the rest of the jam!!

Developer

Appreciate the long post! Your gameplay story is lovely and I'm so happy that you like it. You also pointed out the win text. So glad someone notice.

I don't find other similar type though (I only played a few random games)

Good game! I really like seeing new heros and using new enemies! Great art direction!

Developer

Thanks! The hero variation is one of the thing I added in the last few hours. It does have great potential.

Nice game! I'm a huge fan of incremental games and this really ticked my boxes. I really liked how the abilities and "enemy" (I guess they're not enemies in this game) stats affected how to strategize and play the game. I would love to see more ability variations between the heroes and perhaps more unlockables (but a game jam is a game jam :) )

Developer

Glad you love the vibe! There are definitely a lot I can add as anything that works in general RPG would fit here haha

Nice game ! I Loved the art!

Developer

Thanks! You can check the credit for where I found these assets. They're awesome.

A possible solution to the slow start is to have a fast-forward button for grinding the hero through those early levels. Really fun idea and I could see it growing with lots of cool mechanical possibilities.

Developer

ohhh fast-forward button is really a cheap and effective solution. I did think of adding more stuff like negative effects, castable spell, ...etc. But well 24 hrs is 24 hrs.

This game is addictive!

This is actually a great idea! I always wondered why bosses don't one-shot heroes while they are still weak then realized that it's so lonely at the top of the food chain that they gotta groom their own enemy. lol. Great stuff! Keep it up.

i really liked it, its a bit  slow to start up but it was quite fun. very good game!

Developer(+1)

Glad you like it! The slow start is for giving the player time to learn the game (also balancing is hard).
