Really great job! This felt almost like a professional puzzle game! I’m super impressed that you put it all together and made so many satisfying puzzles in just 48 hours!

I do have a few nitpicks, but overall had a really good experience:

  • On level 5 I couldn’t buy a wizard. I figured out that this was because the wizard wasn’t needed for the solution and you wanted to simplify the solution space, but the UI indication was the same as when you just couldn’t afford a unit, so I thought it was a bug at first. Perhaps some sort of crossed out indication rather than just grayed out would have made that clearer.
  • When you retry a level, it would be better if it kept your army configuration. I usually just needed to change one or two things, but had to place everyone every time. (Looks like you’ve already have said in other comments that this is on the full version to-do list!)
  • I suspect this was just due to time constraints and you have already thought of this, but the explanations of each unit on the game’s page would have been great as tooltips in the game when you hover over the unit button (or somewhere).

Awesome job, and I hope you make a full version!

Thanks for playing, and the detailed comment! I agree with all your nitpicks - in fact, these were things we considered adding for usability but left out for time! If we do an updated version of the game, we’ll be sure to include these improvements.

Amazing game! That last level was hard, but once I figured out the pieces it was satisfying! Archer coming in clutch lol. Very nice concept and art, but would've love it tho if it saves my previous comp I used when I failed the level. But other than that, that was such an enjoyable game! Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We agree with the saving previous comp feature! if we make a full version we will be sure adding that in!

Very nice game! The take on the theme is absolutely fantastic, and one of the most unique and creative takes on the reversed tower-defense genre. The execution is also fantastic, with very smooth and satisfying game mechanics. My only suggestion would be to add a "fast-forward" button, so that you can quickly test variations of your lineup and their order.

Fantastic presentation also, the artstyle is super cute.

Congrats on such a good jam game!

Thanks for playing, and the detailed reply! We actually did have a fast-forward feature during development, but we had to scrap it before the deadline due to some bugs that there wasn’t time to fix.

That's unfortunate! I'm glad to hear it was going to be a thing, hope to see it in a post-jam patch :)

Salute to your dedication.

Thanks for playing! I admit, it was pretty hard getting this submission ready for the deadline (and we had to cut a few corners) but I’m glad we got there.

it's really not that easy lol. I had to cut a lot of things to be able to deliver at the last minute too lol

I think your concept has the potential to be a great inverse tower defense lol

Wow! This game was incredible. The gameplay was fun and the puzzles engaging. I loved the visual polish and sound effects. Only thing I wish was that it saved your previous layout so you didn't have to try to reconstruct the whole thing from memory if you made one mistake.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, saving the layout is something we would have liked to implement fully, if we had more time.

A really tricky puzzle game! I had an idea similar to this before settling on the one I made, so it's cool to be able to play a fully realized and fleshed out version! <3

We’re glad you enjoyed it! I guess it makes sense for a reverse tower defence game to be a popular idea; we tried to give our own unique spin on it by making it a puzzler with a specific goal.

Great job for doing this fun puzzle.  i spent quite a while to solve the puzzle but i didn't get tired of it.

Glad you enjoyed the game!
