The main idea of your game is really great ! Reversing some buildings and creatures is a fun idea.
But I think that the game isn't well balanced. You can easily create a great number of towers and turn all the enemies into allies. However for a 48h jam, your game is really nice and I think that after adding some features to make it more balanced, you could unleash the great potential of your game. I can't imagine how crazy this game could be !
Moreover the visuals and the animations are really nice, good job !

Developer

There is a population balancing mechanic in the game. If you convert too many enemies into allies and over populate, then everyone on your side dies. But a lot of people have pointed out that the game has been giving them infinite money and so it is really broken. I should have paid more attention to that. I'll try to fix that after the jam. Thank you for your feedback!

Something is gone wrong, I guess ahahaha. After placing some tents the coins started raising endlessly.

I had fun indeed, even if I know it's no the proper way to play it ahah. Lovely art and design!

Developer

uughghh!! it happened to you too? All this because I decided to not let the villagers have a trigger collider instead of a normal one. I'll fix it after the jam. I'm glad you still had fun lol. Thanks for playing!

Really lovely art style, and nice idea of switch object! I made a tower-defense-like myself.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, I checked your game out and commented just now. Good job!

I really like this game. The role switching ability in this game is one of my favorites. It is really cool that they change in a cycle. My one wish is more variation in enemies, units etc, but it is too much to ask for a 48 hours jam haha. Anyway, I like both the art and the music. The game is very entertaining. Great job!

Developer(+1)

I did plan on adding different units. If you look close enough the goblins have different clothing. They were supposed to be different type of enemies. But given the time of this jam, I decided against it, since the game was already getting too big for me to code lol.
Anyways, Thank you so much for playing our game!

Absolutely stunning game!

Thank you so much!

I like the art style! The dancing outlines and crayon feel is sweet.

Developer

Thanks alot! I used blender grease pencil for the art with the noise modifier filter.

good job

Developer

Thanks! You've got a cute game aswell. I played and rated it yesterday.

when I worked as an illustrator, I never used brushes, and now I don’t understand how your trees do what they do, how did you achieve this if it’s not a secret?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

it's not a secret lol. You should try out blender's grease pencil and add the noise filter to it and set its strength  according to your liking. Then make an animation of the noise and export each frame individually.

There are a lot of tutorial on this topic on youtube as well. I'll recommend this one:

Very cool concept and presentation. I like the idea of reversing object, it is very original!

I think that maybe the ability to reverse enemy is a little too powerfull? I understand that this could be balanced someway, but right now the only issue I found is that there is almost no chance to lose.

Overall the game is great, very solid submission. Good job!

Developer(+1)

I have implemented population balancing in the game. If your population exceeds the total population your houses can provide then everyone dies.  And also you require gold to cast the reversing spell so if you spam it you could run out of gold. I think even after that the reversing power might be a lil too op. If I ever work on this game in future I'll definitely try to come up with a better limitation. Thank you for pointing that out. I'm glad you liked the game otherwise.

Really cool idea and great presentation! I found it a little easy--I stopped at 600 points since I wasn't in much danger (I think because I was granted too much money, had 100k by the end).

Took me a minute to get the hang of it but I enjoyed it a lot. Clever stuff

Developer(+1)

100k??? 💀 I knew there was some problem with the villagers acquiring gold but didn't know it was this bad! Massive overlook on my part. but thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it overall.

I really like the looks of the game. I really would love to have a chat with the person that created the pencil-drawn look and feel. Audio is also really good. The only issue is balancing in my opinion, which is always very difficult during a game jam ! Awesome job, thank you for submitting it at my twitch channel :D

Developer

Thank you for playing our game! Yes, balancing was definitely something we should have paid more attention too.

I used blender's grease pencil for the art. Really happy with how it turned out. But it wasn't made during the jam. I had those assets unused so, I used them for this jam. Since making decent art and programming the game in just 48 hours is really not achievable for me lol.
As for the audio I had two team mates working with me. Both of them were really good at their craft. Their accounts are linked in the description of the game.

The game looks amazing and it became addictive to play. The music is also great! I got to a point were I had so many buildings my people could not move and make money hahah.

My game is down here if you wanna test it out and tell me :)

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. yes, it can cramp in villagers if there is no space to move. But converting them into troops all at the same time is so satisfying to watch xD.

You have a pretty good game as well. I rated it just now.

i really like the art style! the game is pretty well balanced too

Developer

Thanks!

I am *deeply* impressed that you managed to make a game of this scale in 48 hours. It had a bit of a learning curve, but it was an interesting take on the theme.

Developer

You should have seen me towards the end of the jam. I was panicking and thought I had over scoped but it did work out in the end. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

WOW! This was one of the best games I have played in this jam so far.  So polished, addictive and overall well balanced. I kept playing for a long time, watching the villagers, swapping the towards..  Well done! Super interesting and an awesome state for 48 hrs!

Please do check out our game.

Developer

Thanks alot! I'm so glad you liked our game. I'll check yours out too.

This is incredible! The core gameplay concept is surprisingly nuanced. Even when I thought I'd broken it with infinite coins and overlapping buildings, the constantly changing buildings and characters combined with the balance between under- and over-population made the game challenging for way longer than I thought.

Sure, switching between orcs, farmers, and guards is simple, but the fact that guards attack orcs means that converting a horde of orcs can be really risky if too much of your army is attacking them. And if all three types are in the same area, there's no way to remove the orcs. Orcs attacking towers turn into farmers harvesting from trees. Just super interesting, this game works really well!

Developer

Haha, thanks for pointing out the bugs. I was aware of them and was worried that they might make the game too easy. But I'm glad they aren't too game breaking and the games' still enjoyable. I ran out of time in the end and couldn't really fix them. Thank you for playing our game!

Submitted(+1)

I think the existence of the bugs is a testament to robustness of the core game. Kudos!

NICE!
