This is really incredible, the polish on the visuals and the variety of gameplay in just a few days is super impressive! Not to mention that its fun too!
Yeah, we worked really hard two days (Sunday and Tuesday) while we mostly talked and took decisions Saturday and Monday.
Glad you liked it !
interesting game!
Thank you !
Really beautiful visuals! I didn't really understand the card game and when I got the virus minigame I thought I had to dodge the balls and got infected hahaha
Ahhh, no, don't do that ! If you don't block the virusses, you get a lot of virus cards in your hand and you fail to communicate and trade with the tribemen !
Have you tried a new game but this time you block the virusses ?
Thanks for your comment !
the art for this game is stunning! It took me a while to figure out the card game, it could do with a little more explanation, even just in the description text on the page.
Hey, thanks for your comment ! We added an image tutorial on the game page. Check it out and tell us how good you think it is !
Just had a peek, that’s pretty clear now. I’m going to give your game another play through after work!
Nice, thanks for playing!
I kept returning to the ship without meaning to... other than that is a very imersive and cool game!
Hahaha, indeed we didn't really nail the tutorial part 😅 That is definitely an aspect that we will work on in the future.
Thanks a million for trying out our game, I hope that you still managed to get a good score!
Very atmospheric game! I appreciate the tutorial, but I personally still could have done with a little extra handholding at first. My first few playthroughs, I happened to accidently walk onto the ship straight away, which added to my initial confusion.
Indeed, that is a comment we got a lot. We want to take the time to improve it further after the jams end, and explaining a bit better all the mechanics is in the list!
Many thanks for your feedback, I hope you still managed to get a good time despite your confusion 😄
Very fun game ! The overall idea is very well executed and works well ! Nice job
Thanks a bunch!
The style looks amazing! personally I never understand those card games so some tutorial would've been nice! could deffinitly be me being blind and not having seen a obvious tutorial though
There is an in-game tutorial ! You might have missed it by clicking too quickly. Sorry for that !
Have you tried the "reset tutorials" button on the main menu ?
OOOW my bad, let me give it an other try!
Art is amazing, love the pixel art style, also mixing the exploration phase with card and trade is nice, could maybe add more levels / mapping, this is pleasant!
Thank youuu !
We definitely plan to build on the game later !
fun to play when I finish to open all the map and return to the ship its still say game over died of hunger,
the card game was a bit to much for my i always got small numbers card and lost all the games
Sorry for the bug when you return to the ship ! We forgot to remove one of the end-of-game displays and it keeps appearing once you've triggered it.
So, even when you finish the game returning to the ship, the "died of hunger" text still appears. Ignore it ! And sorry for that !
I'm glad you like the game, thanks for your comment <3
Sorry for the lack of luck with the cards. Sometimes, you just draw very bad cards and you have to deal with it for the whole run. We're planning to balance this out after the rating period is over.
This brings my childhood back. it's pleasing that the fog is completetly under my control but still plays a role
Thanks a lot for playing and leaving a comment. I'm glad you found some childhood memories playing this game. In the future, we might update the fog because it doesn't feel organic enough.
I'm trying your game right now ! I'll sure leave a comment !
Love the concept! Very gorgeous art as well. Would love to see the idea of adventure and trick taking fleshed out into a full game!
After posting the game, the three of us were like : DAMN IT, WE HAVE TO CONTINUE !
And we will of course do exactly that ! As soon as the rating period is over, we'll get back developing and try to make this a full game with a nice and smooth difficulty curve. Maybe and infinite mode and a bandit chasing you around the map forcing you to make smart decisions (hiding in the forest, finding refuge in a village and so on)
Aces art and a lot to explore in this game ^^
Yes ! The game has a lot of depth but still is enjoyable when you don't understand absolutely everything.
What score did you achieve ?
Thanks for your comment !
Nice job with this! There was so much going on all of sudden, I think I lost but it was simple enough and the art was great! It felt like there was a lot of content too which was nice, you could def keep building this out. Great job!
We will continue working on the game !
I mean, it's perfectly playable and it's already a "full" game, but we can definitely add a lot of variation, new opponents, smarter island generation, more virus-type minigames to avoir contagion and so on.
I'm so glad you played it, liked it, and left a comment.
Have a nice day, I'm going to play your game, now !
the art is incredible. Amazing job :)
Thanks for your nice comment! 🥰
Our artist/friend made indeed an amazing job, you can check more of his work here https://www.artstation.com/unau or here https://x.com/unau123
By the way, the three of us will try out your game today !
Thanks for leaving a comment !
I'm not totally sure what the relation to the prompt is with this game. The art was spectacular, that was my favorite bit.
The scale part : going from a world view to a village view to a human cells view. As the game goes on, we scale down to the very smallest parts of a human being. And all of the scaling has a big influence on the larger parts of existence (village and island).
The built part : the deckbuilding, the accumulation of resources and the drawing of a map to return to the Queen.
I hope you understand the theme a little better, now.
I have to agree, though, it can be hard to link the Jam prompt with the game without explanations.
Thanks for playing and leaving a comment. I'll try your game after posting this answer.
Oh, wait. Did you publish a game ? I can't find it !
Oh no I'm not a developer, just a friend of some developers and I decided to test out some of the other games. Thanks for explaining everything to me it makes much more sense to me now. I wish you luck in the competition!
No luck needed, we're the best !
Jokes apart, thanks a lot !
I love the artstyle, and the sound effects and the polish are very good!
Thanks ! We spent nearly 8 hours only polishing the game, adding animations, working on Quality of Life updates. It was very, very pleasant to see the game becoming readable and playable while we progressed towards the end of the jam.
Thanks for playing, our artist is formidable.
Thanks for leaving a comment. I'll try your game when I'm done answering the rest of the comments.
The game is actually very cool. I'd say the connection to the theme is farfetched but I like it (and I find your way of thinking cool), I feel like there's a lot of worldbuilding behind all this and the art on the cards is raaad
Yeah, our artist really nailed it. It was very motivating to work with beautiful art !
The theme is about a big island and it's biomes, a small village and relationships and then blood cells and virusses. Every scale of life is important for survival. But I understand why you think the theme is farfetched !
Thanks a lot for playing and leaving a comment !
I thought the game was very fun. Not too related to the theme I feel, but the mini game is good. First time I played I skipped tutorial and got very confused, so I recommend you read all the text if you want to enjoy the game. Overall good job!
Hey, glad you found the game fun !
Should I mention in the page that reading the tutorial is important, you think ?
The game scales down from an island to a village to human cells, but I can understand why you think it's not very theme-related.
May I try your entry ?
Not quite sure if should mention reading tutorial would be important. People that are likely to skip tutorial would skip that too.
I get how it scales I think that’s really cool. I understand the theme now… Maybe not too good of a comment.
The game I worked on was Heavyville, you can try it out if you’d like. It’s not the best, but it’s okay.
I'll ty Heavyville ! I already added it to my "game to try"-list.
Thanks a lot for commenting again !
Art looks wonderful, but html doesn't work correctly - I can only see half of a game screen. So I wasn't able to play it. But I really would like to
Have you tried zooming out with control + mouse wheel ?
Keep me posted !
