Need a lot of polish, the idea is good but doesn’t feel good to play.

Good idea. I like the idea of using ladders to overcome obstacles. However, the ladders are bugged from a certain length and it is only possible to move forward with more bugs. The combat system is well solved, but I would let the opponents' blows be determined randomly to make the fights more challenging
Didn't expect the music to get that epic at the end! =D
Controls are pretty slow, but I had a lot of fun playing the game. Throwing the ladder in the air and hoping it will land right is satisfying, and weirdly not as difficult as it first seem. The variety in the level design and the increase of the ladder height makes good profit of this mechanics. There's only the combats that seem out of place, and kinda break the pace of the game. But overall, it's a pretty nice entry. Good job!
Extremely fun game! I love being the King of France!!!
Throwing ladders was a cool and fun mechanic. While the lack of a trajectory indicator made it a bit difficult to initially figure out how changing the hand position changes the trajectory, I think overall the lack of it made the ladder throwing more fun and goofy.
Combat was also pretty fun, serving to split up all the ladder throwing a bit. Great choice to add that in. Do wish there were more opportunities for enemy-ladder interactions. Clambering over an enemy whose head I threw a ladder over was one of the highlights of my playthrough. (Though it paled in comparison to becoming the King of France, of course.)
Music was nice, as well, and the visuals fit the game’s style, I felt.
Great job on everything! A great game, and an even better historical commentary on the flaws of the infamous Maginot Line. (Well, not really due to the time period.)
I... Don't know how to feel about this game. The ladder throwing mechanic is very frustrating since you have to basically just keep guessing until you land the ladder correctly. However at the same time I played through the whole game + post ending ladders so obviously something was done right.
The style and soundtrack were very appealing and I appreciate the detail of the death noise lining up with the soundtrack nicely. I wish there was more than throwing a ladder to scale a wall, maybe some more gap crossing would have been nice to add variety. Overall I guess I enjoyed it!
Its funny to still be able to control the little guy even after hes dead lol
The ladder physics is a little funny, but that is why this game is fun.
Took me a while to figure out you could teleport the ladder back to your hands, thought you had to stand on it to pick it up at first. The control scheme is a little awkward, and the movement speed might be a little low, but the idea is cool! Good job!
Very nice game, it's super fun and pretty unique !
Good job on this game, it's really well made !
there is something so incredibly charming about this to me. extremely innovative little game. i can't wait to see what you make next!
Seeing the premise I was kind of worried about physics jank, but it honestly works really well and i never had any issues getting on the ladder or climbing it. Props on that.
I also liked the cute character art.
I do wish the combat and ladder mechanics interacted more. As it is, the only real interaction is that you can use the ladder to box in or walk over enemies, but the level design doesn't really enable it. It feels like you're really locked in to either combat mode or ladder mode.
I softlocked myself by throwing the ladder on the other side of the wall, then jumped to the left hoping to respawn :)
Jokes aside, cool game!
Loved the ladder mechanics! and the combat is also good! Wonder if we can also hit enemy by ladder would be cool!
Overall a pretty fun and charming game. The mechanic was a bit jank at first but felt good once I got the hang of it, although a bit trial and errory. Also the music and the transitions were very well done and fit the theme the game was going for (idk if you did the music or not but good choice nonetheless :] )
For being kinda clunky to control I actually had a great time and beat the whole thing, even got over the tall wall at the end haha! I do kinda wish the ladders doubled as javelins, that would have been awesome.
