Cute pufferfish! The upgrade system has increased the replayability a lot plus I like the feeling of diving deeper and deeper. It would be better if the pufferfish could grow bigger or add more fish species as it gets deeper. (P.S. Water rats are pretty cool XD
Pretty cool. It feels like a mix between pac-man and feeding frenzy to me. However I don't think an upgrade system fits the game at all. Before I knew about the upgrades I tried to go as deep as possible and had a blast, but with the upgrades it was just mindlessly grinding for scales which I didn't really enjoy, especially since the way you damage fish feels really inconsistent.
Hmm I can see where you're coming from.
Yes, the damaging enemy fish is sometimes a bit finicky. Need to fix the collision detection.
Thank you for your feedback!
Puffer Fish devs unite!
I played around a little, and was about to quit, until I realized I could go deeper. I proceeded to spend the next hour or so farming the abyss. It gets addicting to constantly improve the pufferfish. I am proud to say I got every single upgrade by the end, and went on to collect 80+ scales more before letting myself get eaten. Aside from the collision with the red fish being finnicky, the game works well. The feeling of gradually becoming the king of the pond is addicting.
PUFFER FISH GANG!
Wow! You've really went all in. Well done!
We're glad to hear that you've enjoyed our game!
Yess collision is something we need to tweak.
Thank you!
The game’s framerate dropped significantly when the pufferfish got very big. Despite that, I still really enjoyed the game and I think you executed the idea very well! You should be proud of yourself!
Appreciate your kind words!
Hmm the framerate dropped is something we need to look into. Thank you for pointing that out.
Nice game. The pufferfish is cute. The upgrades at the end add a good replayability. Good job.
Really fun! The upgrades add a lot of depth (pun intended), great entry for 96 hours!
Great game, I definitely felt the tension growing as I went deeper especially with the fish art. The blue fish glitched a few times but I think it raised my enjoyment level. Very nice work and great interpretations of the theme.
Really fun idea and I loved the graphics :)
Great game, such a nice idea. I played it for 1h and I found the final destination only to find 1 scale as a reward, you tricked me :(. I really liked the upgrades, made me play it longer to finish the game. I got issues only with the visuals, the blue fish was glitching left to right, right to left etc.. played it on browser so I do not know if it helps. Well done, this is so underrated, wish to see you in top 100.
Thank you!
Didn't think of it as a reward but you're right that, kinda seems underwhelming to see at the very bottom of the ocean.
Here have this giant scale.png instead!
Thank you :))
this game looks good! love the multiple meanings of "scale" here.
great music and interesting mechanics! the idea of a pufferfish scaling up and also having scales is smart :)
Thank you! Glad you like it :)
Very nice game! The upgrade system adds a lot of interesting replayability, and the graphics are charming. Really my only criticism is that the tougher enemies don't seem to drop any more scales than the weaker ones. There just isn't much of an incentive to go into the depths.
Thank you!
Hmm I thought we made it so that they would drop more scales but I guess it doesn't work xd
You're right. Thanks for pointing that out!
Top notch 96 hr game!!! Excellent execution, the art the controls the music, all very well done!
Thank you for the kind words!
