Good job! Especially with the visuals and feel of the game. I also love it when someone takes an established formula and simply adds one small twist that really changes how a game plays.

I really liked the push-pull of inflating the enemies and making them more dangerous in the process. The visuals are spot on too!

Very cool concept, as someone that loves "bullet hell" games, this one is right up my alley!

This takes me right back to being in an arcade. I've always loved this retro style and you pulled it off really well.

The design is nice, makes oyu wanna be greedy to have more score, and making them grow change slil bit how they work and ofc makes it more dangerous. Just music missing while playing =(

I think you really nailed the NES style with this game, from the art and sound effects to the simple yet addictive gameplay. In terms of the shooting, I get that it might be difficult to keep clicking the left mouse button a lot to take down the enemies as it could get painful on the index finger, and it might help if the enemies had less health. But I do get why the shots are limited to one per press, and it still led to a challenging yet fun game overall!

I’m planning to add auto-fire to compensate for the enemies having a lot of health. I already tested it and made sure it doesn’t make it harder for you to shoot a single laser at a time. That’s the solution I’m going with. Thank you for playing the game and I’m happy you enjoyed it!

The visuals look very well done!

Dig Dug + Asteroids? YES! ah so good. Definitely need to be able to hold down left click but I had so much fun with this! Also if you were to make one change (other than holding shoot). What if the enemies also inflated you, so if you get hit your ship upgrades, but it is now bigger and easier to hit. The after 3 hits you pop

Developer

OMG you’re a genius! I’ll have to try that!

I love that the blue ones kinda look like frogs
cool concept! and congrats on your first jam!

Pretty fire game, some juice and particles would really make it pop you know?

Submitted(+1)

Great game that is quite challenging! As some already suggested, autofire would be a convenient addition! But nevertheless, good work! :)

I am extremely bad but it was really fun! And it's a solid base idea that could probably be expanded on pretty well

Fun game, but wish there was an autofire

Fun game!

I really like this! Like my own game, weapon variety would have brought it up a notch but the new enemies kept this one fresh by introducing more challenges.

The art looks like a ZX spectrum game - very well executed. Gameplay wise I wish there was a bit more variety to the bullets, and there was a persistent issue where if I move my mouse outside of the game's screen, I wouldn't be able to shoot, so I'd really like to have a "shoot with a keyboard" button.

Fun idea with good execution. For w/e reason the shooting would lock up somewhat randomly. I wasn't able to get far due to that. I'm not sure why there's crazy loud menu music and then no music in game lol. I guess that was typical of the space shooters that this was inspired by. As some others have said, it would be good to have more feedback when hitting the enemies as there isn't much indication of how close they are to inflating.

Sweet idea. I see in your description that you said you thought an autofire was required; I couldn't agree more. I just put an autoclicker on and played a couple rounds and it was far more enjoyable. I think in the future adding more weapons / ships etc could be really fun ! I liked the idea of inflating and then popping the enemies.

Awesome art!

Love the take on the theme. Inflating the enemies to destroy them is such a cool idea. Great work!
