Interesting game ! There were times when the enemies' movement was not entirely constrained on the grid which made planning actions a bit more uncertain.
A nice thing to add to the game would be to automatically walk to the next door once the room is cleared, I think.
Overall though, this was an enjoyable game !
Really fantastic entry! The gameplay is really strategic and easy to pick up, and was a lot of fun to play! My only problem with the game is that I thought it was a little easy. This has great potential as a really good puzzle game, and I'd love to see it expanded further in the future! Nice work :)
(also really cool that it can run on actual GBC consoles, that's fun)
Awesome minimalistic artstyle, nice combat systems that focuses more on strategy compared to randomness. Only small feedback I have is that the movement of you and enemies sometimes felt a bit clunky, besides that an amazing submission.
The aesthetic is fantastic, well done!
had a lot of layers to the game, pretty interesting
Loved it! So cute, so smol 💕 very enjoyable and unique!
Interesting game, the controls are a bit complex to handle, and it lacks some elements to add a bit of strategy, but otherwise it plays well, it would lack some feedbacks
What part of the controls were you finding complex?
I think it's the principle of making a direction and then moving forward that is quite difficult to take in hand
This was amazing, my favorite game by far! Love the retro art style and the cool enemy designs! Can you make a downloadable windows version of this so i don't have to play it in my browser? That would be even better. Such an amazing game!
The character feels really weird to control, I don't really feel control at all.
This was really, really good! I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and I thought the damage based on steps mechanic was very clever. Nicely done on this.
My only gripe was with the control scheme; since you're mostly walking, it feels like it would have been easier on the player to make the arrow keys move immediately, and the attack be pressing X and then choosing a direction to attack in. But it's a small thing, since I did eventually get used to the rhythm of the current movement system.
Great work! I hope to see this really highly ranked!
Edit: Oh, and I wanted to add that the boss's unique way of fighting and the pausing of the projectile between turns was genius!
A really well made little game!
Everything felt like a solid and consistent experience from start screen to end.
The graphics were well made and easy to read without being boring
The game was maybe a little easy. I cheesed the game a lot by walking back and forth behind walls to build up damage. Maybe pathfinding on enemies would prevent that from being possible
Love the aesthetic and feel. Wasn't expecting the last boss to have its own unique mechanics like that. Really solid entry!
The Ataria 2600 graphics are so cool! I really enjoyed playing. However, the hit boxes were really hit or miss (literally). Sometimes my sword would be going right through an enemy and they would die while other times I would swing two blocks away and they would die. Overall fun. Great job!
Was your dice roll high enough to damage the enemy? If not the attack would go right through them without any effect, the Enemy roll values are listed in the instructions in the game's description.
Ah, I must have missed that. I'll give it another shot tomorrow.
Loved the graphics! Really cool that it works on a GBC! Great job and congrats!
I liked the graphics and the main concept of the combat! Unfortunately I found the grid imprecise; sometimes enemies or even the player would be off by a half-step causing an attack to miss or the character to be stuck on a door. The boss battle felt like the best execution of the combat, planning steps to simultaneously avoid attacks and be ready to attack at highest power.
However the dice component really felt a bit forced to me; it was just a counter, had no rolling or randomness component, and even then it only counted 1-5. Didn't feel dice-themed in any significant way.
Unfortunately the sound did not work for me, so I cannot comment on music or SEs.
Sadly there is no sound as of yet, the slipping off the grid was only discovered close to the end of the Game Jam and there wasn't time to find a way to fix it but you can reorient yourself by walking into a wall and extra walls were place by any exit that you may have trouble getting through to help the player character realign themselves.
Excellent game! I like the tactics + the final boss is very cool!
combat was fun! felt like a delicate dance, avoiding enemies while powering up. would be really interesting to see how it feels with more additions like maybe equipment / more randomness etc
Nice game :)
