How does your game fit the theme?
With this game I wanted to give the player the randomness from a die so they can roll again after a bad outcome. This is done by adding randomness to the levels through the "random level generator". In one level the environment, fall, or enemy will kill you. In the other level it will not. Like in life, things will happen that are out of your control. Whatever happens, roll the dice again and keep going. I noticed that the file can not be opened with some software. I used WinRAR to compress it. You should be able to extract it to a folder though.

This is the first game we've played from the jam where the "randomness" feels totally scripted if you play through a second time. Was that intentional? It's an interesting take to lie to the player if intended. Very Portal.

Thanks a lot for your comment. It was very intentional indeed. Funny, I have played Portal 2 weeks ago.

My idea behind it was the following: we always associate dice with randomness with which we let a game decide the outcome for us as we dont want full control to keep things fun. In real life some decisions are so difficult it feel like it would be easier if I could just roll a die and follow the outcome. That's what I wanted to incorporate into the game.

To be honest, I did not figure out how to win this game. But the fox is cool)

Are there more than 3 levels? I couldn't get past the wasp, even when I clearly managed to jump over it I got a gameover screen. :(

This was actually quite the experience, I liked it : )

The little messages inbetween added a lot.

I love the character animation. The game has flaws of course, but it's amazing for a first-ever game made in limited time. Congrats!

Fun little first game! It worked just fine for me from the itch app. Small note: it felt weird to have keyboard for movement/jump, and mouse for clicking through menus. IOW, consistent control scheme would have been nice. Keep jamming!

It says the game cannot be downloaded.

Oh man, I finally get someone to look at my game and then it cannot download? Is it the download that does not work or is it the file you cannot open?

I tried downloading it and it works. I tried opening it and it works. And I tried playing it and it works. I used WinRAR to open it.

Hi!

When I click on the Orange Button "The Dice of Life's itch.io page" I get a 404 not found error with the following message:

"This game has been restricted by the author and can not be downloaded. The owner of the page must give permission to those they wish to access the page."

It also says further below "We noticed that this game has never been published, perhaps the creator forgot to publish it before sharing?"

There's a button I think you have to set to "published" to make it downloable.

Thanks a lot for mentioning this Maxxxxxxx. I just made the game public :D

I also tried opening the file with 7zip, but that does not seem to work. I used WinRAR to create the file. You can extract it to a folder without opening though.

Really, thanks again!

I could download it now, I'll leave a comment and a rating after playing : )
