Hate to say it, but I broke your game : D

Turns out you can walk on air for 5 tiles, if you're fast enough, so I tried to do a minimal jump run.

5 is what I got so far:

Also did an Any % run using those techniques:

Have fun watching! (Might currently not be viewable, since I'm currently uploading them. Give it a few minutes.)

And I don't mind you using these / showing them, just not sure if that's the best way to promote it, given that the usual player will be rather slow on their playthrough.

Sorry, accidentally made it private : (

Should work now.

So I did try speedrunning this, as I promised:

Thank you, the numbers of dice will forever be burned into my brain.

There are actually some cool skips in this too.

Really enjoyed playing this on stream!

The game looks great, the atmosphere is awesome, and I love how you actually really have to think and try to interprete the manual.

This is such a good fundation to build upon, really.

If you add some randomness to it and have different scenarios, I could easily see this become a hit!

I had a blast playing this on stream!

The controls took a while to get used to, but were eventually super fun to do.

I also like the double jumps and corner jumps : D

Only the angles need some tweaking here and there, so you can always tell where a coin is.

Overall a really enjoyable experience!

Thanks you!

Yeah, the levels were made really quickly, we didn't really have much time to think about balancing, or even playtesting the levels.

We mostly cared about at least having some there, time was tight : D

A really good looking and challenging game!

The mechanics work really well and the fact you added adaptive music is just wow.

It's definitely one of those games that you just want to give another try again and again : D

One thing I am not sure was intended, but that I personally liked is, how you can still place tiles midjump.

Cute little game with good mechanics to build upon.

I did not think the keyboard positions were awkward, just noticed later that you can also use the mouse to attack, which I found better.

Overall the game is a bit too short to really go into any details, but it's impressive that you could make something like this in 48 hours : )

I honestly just play, rate and comment a lot of games, and around 70 % of the people in return play my game too.

Streaming did get me like 6 - 8 ratings I think too, even though I never really streamed before, so maybe you can also consider that : D

A lot of people are hyped to just see someone play their game.

The sky looked really beautiful, the rest of the art was cute.

Overall a good game to just chill out and relax to.

I can definitely see this being popular on mobile phones.

Not really much to criticize here, just a fun enjoyable experience.

The game looks really stellar!

It also introduces a feeling of "Come on, I can get lower than my current score." immediately, though my best was only 9 moves : D

It's good overall, but I could see you definitely add more mechanics, or tweak the current ones to make this more interesting overall.

Nice game, the mechanic is worked out well enough, so that you sometimes need to think in different ways of using it, to solve the puzzles.

The art looks cute too!

Overall it's a good demo that you can build upon. Only thing that came across negatively is, that I managed to get stuck in walls, and also managed to completely go out of bounds.

At least there's a restart button : D

A fun little game!

The shooting works well, and it's nice that there are buffs you can get after killing a certain amount of enemies.

I sadly never got that far though,  because my companions just kept dying -__-

I am not sure if your companion dies in one hit, but it kind of felt like it.

Overall this is a solid base you can keep working and adding stuff on, I think.

The visuals are awesome. This is such a pretty, cool looking game, really.

Gameplay wise I like how it is essentially luck based how fast you are, but you have the control of keeping your speed by trying to dodge the rerolls. In general having luck combined with player skill works really well.

I can easily see this be made into a full game, I'd like to see more mechanics eventually though!

Definitely a stand out from yesterday.

Played this yesterday in the stream, and was a fun experience!

Getting gradually more upgrades and being on such a tight timelimit is a unique concept.

Further the controls are really tight and work so well! Even though you are really fast, and lots of one tile blocks are placed, you can honestly still just run and jump at full speed and make every single jump if you're good. Quite the good controls / movement mechanics!

Art looks really stellar too.

If I had to nitpick to find a flaw, it sometimes took me about 30 to 60 seconds to find where I am supposed to go now, which "I guess" is long for such a fast paced game : D

Overall solid job, I honestly expected this to have at least 100 ratings.

The art is really nice in this.

I did play this in stream yesterday, and yeah, I also didn't immediately understand what you are supposed to do, until I got the hint from you, so definitely add a tutorial! (Though a small 1 - 3 room tutorial level would work best I think.).

I also think you need to rework the mechanic of "only being able to use a slot machine once, and then you have to go to the other".

I don't think it adds to the game, it just makes it take more time. Maybe have the game shuffle unlocked rooms around while you do it, so finding the other slot machine is actually a challenge each time.

Otherwise, the moving is pretty good too. Moving and jumping exactly where you want worked for me most of the time, so good job with that : D

Oh, and yeah, let's hope my slot machine doesn't disappear again x D

Played this in stream yesterday, and it was a lot of fun!

Immediately made me want to try beating the score over and over. 2300 is my best one so far.

One thing I kinda disliked while playing it, was how quickly you just ran out of platforms. I did notice though that you can shoot the platform down, but I merely saw that as "shoot if you quickly need a platform". But I just noticed that you can even use that to not "pray that the die rolls a nice high number", but that you can actually shoot them when they're at a nice high number so the high number will be what they fall down with. Definitely want to try to get an even better score now : D

Really fun game.

Throwing the die is really satisfying, as it has pretty fast movement. Simply jumping around was already really fun.

Having these gradual buffs to certain numbers also gave you a slight feeling of progression, like games like Metroid do : D

A bit more variety of enemies / enemy attack patterns would have made this more interesting, and I wasn't too much a fan of the "enemy blocking". He's literally just standing there blocking after you attacked him : D Maybe have him see your attack and then block, so you have to attack some enemies from behind or something.

Also some check points would have been nice. I died at the final boss (I think) but didn't want to start all from the beginning again just to give it another try.

But overall a solid job. Having the basic attacking be fun to execute is a great achievement!

I enjoyed this game!

Having different effects depending on what your dice rolls on is pretty fun, also given that you changed them up per level. It took me a while though to realize that constantly throwing your die is the best strategy, instead of waiting and doing precise throws : D

The Overheal mechanic was a bit odd, since you become so fast that eventually you just run into stuff. And the last stage needs some tweaking obviously, though I almost made it yesterday. So not too much tweaking, but just a little bit : D

Overall cool game that I'll replay today definitely.

Lots of variety for shot types, and the mechanic to roll through bullets is really clever!

The game is even difficult so you just want to try again and again, good job!

Really creative game!

I really love how the "Roll of the Dice" theme was interpreted here, as rolling the dice is merely a means to distract you for a while. Really clever!

I got stuck randomly two times, but after like 15 seconds I got unstuck, so that needs some fixing : P

The atmosphere is really great though, I got startled quite a bit.

Really fun mechanic. And oh boy, you really don't want to overshoot 6 or 1, haha.

I like it! Lots of potential to expand here.

It could run a bit smoother though.

I am really impressed!

This is the first dice puzzle game this jam that I really dig.

I honestly have nothing to criticize here.

This legit just seems like a game I would've bought honestly.

Fun little game!

Having your health up and weapon change every wave is interesting, as well as the enemy spawning points.

I feel like the map is a bit cramped though, it would have been nice if it was bigger.

At first I thought "Oh ok, you just drag the die and it jumps into the direction." but then I noticed you can do it while the die is in the air.

That makes things really enjoyable honestly, to the point I couldn't let it go until I beat stage 6.

You say " don't expect anything too good!", but I actually had a fun time with this : )

(1 edit)

The art looks cute, but I have absolutely no clue what to do. It often seems like I just randomly die even though I have more than half of my health left. Having some tutorial battles explaining the system would really help, I think.

Really nice looking and addicting game!

I can't stop trying to get further, it's a lot of fun, and it never feels cheap when I get hit, but rather that I just made a mistake.

What I'd love to see is different bullet patterns, so not every single enemy just directly aims at you, but that you had more control over whether you want to keep your current number, or whether you actually want to move.

Overall really solid, and I am definitely gonna play more!

The voice acting is awesome!

I am not a big fan of the fighting mechanic, because it essentially means "mash that left mouse button". It also took me a bit to figure out that I can hit the die again while it was in the air.

What I found super interesting though was the fact that you can throw the dice off your wand and it follows then back to you.

That's a really cool mechanic, which I think could be extended on, as it wasn't really made use of here.

Nice music and the gameplay is fun too. I also like how you can slightly see the sides of the dice, to give you a hint if there's a blue spot on the side.

The only problem I see is that it's too easy. I'd have liked it, if there were levels, or a difficulty increase over time (like making the dice go faster from left to right).

I enjoyed playing this. Pretty addicting game. Having all the different weapons and having them vary every time after you used all ammo plays really nicely.

Gameplay wise what needs tweaking in my opinion is:

I dislike how everytime your ammo is gone and you reroll the dice, you have to reselect the die / weapon from the menu. Having this selection as a seperate button and having Space default to the current weapon or die you have (or perhaps just the next one, in case you completely used up the current one) would make it so the gameplay is not interrupted each time.

Further the rolling of the die seems to take too much time. I honestly feel like this could be a good mechanic or a bad one. Running away and trying to dodge while the die rolls can be intense, which is fun, but it also just seems too long to me.

The art does its job, and the music works really well.

Overall really good game!

I am not too big a fan of these kind of dice puzzle games, but the presentation is really nice here, as well as the 3D die as a guidance.

Haha, thanks for playing it!

Maybe if you get some lucky rolls, the stages won't be too hard : D

Really enjoyable and addicting game!

I managed to beat all 3 stages, and was surprised how well the flipping dice mechanic actually works.

The only problem I saw is, that because the dice in the second level are faster, they are pretty difficult to click on. (Kinda seems like you have to click before them or something). I'd increase the collision of the dice maybe, so they're easier to click when they're faster.

Interesting mechanic, having to put the numbers on the die.

I think it shouldn't happen though, that you can change your angle, if you step on the switches : D

This was fun!

I played against the Computer and won after 47 rounds : D

I like the mechanics, just a few things I'd tweak are, that the shield / attack powerups hardly ever were rewarded for me and the computer. Maybe we were just unlucky.

And I guess have the "Interact" button be space or something, because I sometimes accidentally press Interact when I meant to go up.

Overall a fun game, that I could see being improved upon!

I really enjoyed this!

The momentum is something you should probably tweak, but I still found it fun and not really frustrating. The game even allows you to skip some parts here and there, which made it fun to play fast as well. Art looks really nice too.

One of the better games I've seen yet.

Thank you for checking it out! Glad you felt clever when doing the enemy placement, that was something I really wanted to strive for in the concept phase. Having the player decide whether their placement is going to be super easy or brutally difficult but still accommodating for some simple rng to not make things too complicated. : D

Dice Roll

No tutorial? And I think it's broken...
