Cool concept.  Only thing I might add is a few more features to the landscape so that it's easier to tell where you are.  The minimap is also really easy to miss because it blends into the background so well.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

We have some updates ready for after the jam ends. The landscape still needs work, but we took Jade's suggestion of a quick improvement and added a gradient over the background layer to give different coloring over different areas. We also made the minimap a bit bigger, and added a rocket icon that follows the edge to guide you back to the rocket. We originally had the size of the main viewport smaller and when we increased it we forgot to also increase the size of the minimap to match. We will also adjust the border coloring and see if that helps it stand out better.

Felt pretty good to play on controller, loved the minimap.

All in all, pretty fun game!

Thanks!

Nice graphics and very good controls.

I see you put a lot of work here, the game is very complete for only 12 days jam.

Overall, great work!

Thanks!

It took us a few days to figure out what we wanted to try, so we only had about 7 days of work on it. We did not expect to get anything ready in time, so we are really happy we got something we could submit. It did involve long nights, but we had fun doing it!

There are so many great games by first-timers in this Jam I am amazed. Sadly this is not one of them... Just Joking! Great Stuff! You should be very proud!

Developer

Thanks!

Good entry for a first jam, you have progressed well during your 6 month learning period :)

Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thanks! We really didn't expect to have anything ready to submit when we started this. We had so much fun working on it that we found ourselves staying up to meet the sun most days.

very cute and fun i especially liked the looping warning message at the start it really set the whole scene and got me into it. i read through the end of your page description and input the secret code which i liked in part because i had it in my game too :P

Developer(+1)

Thanks! A friend play tested for us and jokingly commented about the code not being there, so we threw it in towards the end for fun.

oh i forgot to also mention that the take off animation at the end was so good!

I refueled my ship and escape it! Fun concept with the energy cells and different tools. But I didn't really got the combat system. After a while I was just avoiding the enemies and running ;-) I liked the art style and the music too! Great job!

Thanks! This was our first game jam, and playable game. A lot got cut to get it submitted for the jam, especially adding and play balancing the enemies, so we favored making it easier and only got 2 in. We are also planning to allow the player to rely on combat or evasion, but that really did not come through at this point, and does make the combat feel a bit off. The shield and repulsor tools are the first part of that evasion option, but were only added shortly before the deadline. We probably should have had some creatures guarding the power stations for this version.

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!

I used the shield a lot, it was a little good evasion tool! And congrats for your first game, even more!

Your and my game ideas are not far apart. So I would say, it matches the theme very good. :D

Developer

Agreed!
