More an experience than a game in my opinion but still interesting! I feel like it would be more complete with something else to do. I like the idea of having to follow indications that may be a bit unclear, in a sort of puzzle way, but I’d like to have more. Maybe music or some visuals, like interaction with the world? Anyway, it fits the theme, and was original!

PS: For AZERTY layout out there like me, switch your keyboard to QWERTY just for the time of the game. Especially if you don’t want or can’t use the arrow keys!

Thanks. This was just a small project to get me back into jamming and I wanted to try something different. I also use a different keyboard layout, and you'll find that for most jam games WASD is an acceptable control scheme because implementing rebindable keys is a hassle.

You watched me play this on stream, but I really enjoyed this little game!

I really liked the game, in the beginning I was quite confused. But after the first two or three points it was clear how to "play".
On the four purple arrows I was a bit stuck, but when I understood it, it was a really cool moment! :)

Thanks!

I really liked the way the movement felt. Controls were responsive and the sfx helped with the immersion as I was flying around.

Some of the puzzles were pretty difficult and I just had to keep guessing, but others felt pretty clever.

Overall it was an enjoyable experience.

A mysterious game. It was fun figuring out where to go, and I loved how the music is synchronized with the walking. I think it would be even better with some kind of narrative.

I really enjoyed this, and was left wanting more (a lot more)!

This definitely felt like a game of "discovery", feeling similar to Subnautica.  Theme -- 5/5

I liked the puzzle-y nature of figuring out the environment, and none of them were overly tricky or frustrating.  As I said before, the only mark against this is how short it was.  Fun -- 4/5

Controls felt good, and the ability to change the side-to-side sensitivity was a really nice touch.  Controls -- 5/5

The skybox was beautiful and the setpieces were well done.  I think the only thing I would add is some texture to the ground, partly to add some variety and partly to give a visual indication of motion when there isn't anything in view.  Graphics -- 4/5

The sounds were fitting and charming.  The movement sounds never got old, although the game might just be too short for that.  I think a little ambiance music in the background might have been good but I didn't miss it much.  Audio -- 4/5

I've already made comparisons to other games, but purely exploration/discovery games aren't common.  The lack of narritive combined with exploration felt fresh.  Originality -- 4/5

Awesome! I appreciate the breakdown of your scores. Thanks for the review.

Theme: this is a great fit! You're discovering the world and how best to follow the guides you see.

Fun: awesome! I loved exploring and learning as I went. It was a little short, but that means it didn't overstay its welcome and it was really polished. Might be cool to see a longer version of this some time.

Controls: relatively easy to pick up, and worked smoothly. Nice!

Graphics: I love seeing all the different visual features of the world, and I liked the abstract feel. Would have been nice to see a little more in the world. Visuals that we could use as landmarks would be especially nice since sometimes it took me a long time to realize I was going in circles. But maybe that would make things too easy lol.

Audio: great! I loved all the little SFX touches. I almost wonder whether it would be possible to make something like this as an audio-only game, but that would take more time than you have in GWJ.

Originality: not something I see often. It's like an abstract, opaque (but not too opaque) scavenger hunt.

By the way, does that slider with the eye icon (next to the audio slider) do anything? Seems like you maybe didn't get around to implementing it, which is fine, but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Developer

Thank you for the praise! The eye slider is look sensitivity.

This reminded me terrifically of Journey, one of my favorite games that doesn't even seem to be a game. I was really impressed with the level of discoverability here.

I liked this one; the visuals and atmosphere are suitably other-worldly, and there are a few nice touches in the sound design, like the whirring when you turn the rover's head, or the beeps when you get to a new landmark. Short, but sweet.
