Super interesting concept! I like the minimalist art style. However, this game is HARD! I don't think I ever managed to stay alive for even a full minute. :-)

Developer

Thanks David! Glad you enjoyed. I think it suffers from "developer gets good at own game, thinks it's too easy" syndrome :P

I liked the art and the difficulty, the spinny mechanic was also really cool! It was overall a fun game.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!

I really liked the spinning mechanic and, despite its simplicity, I also appreciated the overall look of the game. Despite this, I think that the game lacks in balance and in overall polishing of the gameplay loop, since there are a bit too many different things against and not many ways to contrast the enemies.

I think that with some work it could become really interesting, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate and understand your input. Originally I was planning to include multiple player "vehicles" with different assortments of weapons, but that was scrapped alongside player upgrades in the interest of time. Might be part of the reason it feels that way :)

An interesting take on the theme. Easy going and fun spinny arean shooter. Great job!

Submitted(+2)

okay quit interesting, the idea is cool and I like thee name of the game but I don't know what the hell is happening most of the time when I'am playing when I pressed how to play there were like a full page of informationa dn I think to fix that is to show the player a very basic easy to understand how to play screen explaining everything with the easyest possable way in the start of the game and it should be better ;)

Developer(+2)

I agree completely :) Thanks for the feedback!

I see I am not the only one looking for cheese tactics :D

At the start I got cornered at the top, then I made a valiant exodus which resulted in discovering a minefield and the heat traps ( whose design I love by the way)

I was impressed by the balance between the shields and the HP. At the beginning I was overwhelmed, but then figured a way to survive. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm actually quite surprised that I ended up striking something of a balance with all of the stats, it was all clumsy trial and error mathematics behind the scenes

Submitted(+1)

haha that is great to hear that trial and error led to this! Well done! It felt really well executed.

Congratulations on your first game! It's pretty fun and has a lot of cool stuff going on. My best score was 12076.

A couple little bugs I found with the UI while playing:

  • while pressing ESCAPE in the "How to play" screen, it would quit out of the game, not only the screen. Is it possible that you used Input.is_action_pressed() rather than Input.is_action_just_pressed() ?
  • something weird happened after returning to the title screen after my second playthrough: two menu screens got overlapped (see pic).

Gameplay was pretty cool and fun, with enemies having AI and procedural level generation, that's very impressive  to add in a short time span. I didn't really feel the need to ever slow down the spinning, as it both affects fire rate and movement speed as far as I could tell, with both being key factors in kiting around the enemy bots.

Once again, great job!

I appreciate the detailed feedback :) You're dead right with the escape control, I'll need to be more careful. I also encountered the menu overlap/duplication but it only seems to happen intermittently, and with the entire menu setup being a bit "11th hour" I just didn't have the time to track down what was causing the problem. Glad you enjoyed it!

Totally understand that! Keep up the good work!

Simple yet super fun to play <3

Thanks for having a go!

Quite a fun game! Though I didn't quite get what was going on in my first attempt (didn't realize what the purpose of the rotation was). After coming here I saw what it did and then gave it another shot,  at which point I played until I got 20k points (kinda cheesed it by going full rotation, aim backwards and move away from enemies haha)!

Developer(+1)

Glad you worked it out :) Forgetting that prompt in the how-to section has really come back to bite me it seems :P

Submitted(+1)

Could not understand at first what the speed of rotation is supposed to do.

Is fun to play and offers a challenge.

Developer

Appreciate the feedback :)

Surprisingly challenging! The mouse rotation charger is an intuitive combat control. How did you come up with such an idea?

Originality 5/5!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Binding it to the mouse was mostly an afterthought, I thought that Space/Shift would be the primary methods of control, but after testing I realised the mouse buttons were a much better idea.

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed it a lot. The game is pretty balanced, you can be very offensive and fast or very defensive but slow, its such a good mechanic. Originality 5/5 :)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted the player to have a few ways to cope beyond "hold left mouse all the time forever". Glad that seems to have worked out :)

Aside from now being able to figure out why the spinning was needed (in other words, the theme didn't feel well-integrated), the overall feel and gameplay was pretty solid. Very difficult game as well. I enjoyed this.

Developer(+1)

I appreciate the feedback, unfortunately, I realised after submitting that I hadn't made it clear how to navigate to the second how-to screen, which goes into a bit of detail regarding what is affected by your rotation speed. Thanks for having a go!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed holding the mouse button to see your protagonist spin! It was fun to play.

Developer

Thanks for giving it a go :)
