I think this is the best looking game in this jam.
what is the pentagram-button doing?
In downloaded PC version - it's the exit button. In web version Speaker changes text line (voice line is not implemented in 0.6.1 v).
Interesting game. The art was very nicely done overall. There is a clear inspiration drawn from Helltaker I think? It got a bit repetetive but that's not a big deal. More time would allow for more features.
I think my main complaint would be the nurses? I think they were suppose to be nurses. We don't typically have sexual themes or sexualized content. Mainly due to the fact that the server is meant for people of all ages to be able to join in and make games.
Summary; the art was clean. The sounds were great, the environment was well done and you guys had a nice take on the theme. Keep it up guys! But perhaps tone down the sexual content next time. ^^
Thanks for your comment. I got some sort of a report from admin about them and we had a little chat about sexualiztion, feminism and sexism =) First of all - they are CHEERLEADER-nurse girls. And there is nothing wrong about cheerleaders. Secondary - they are the part of narrative of the game. We were unable to fully implement voice lines for patients correctly and was totally unable to implement voice lines for the Speaker at all for gameplay part of the game. This girls - are the succuby on the game over screen =)Yes they do have the fun_service meaning as well, but it's not the main their point. Thirdly - they maybe sexy, but they are not vulgar not only zero pornography but not even erotic. Just cute and sexy =) As a good succuby should be... I suppose all this talk about women, sexism and feminism is a local thing. I'm from Russia - we don't attach special importance in it because we know that liking good looking woman (or good looking man if you are gay) is ok and it does not make you a bad person. And lesbians likes good looking woman too by the way =D The all age audience does not mean there should not be anything sexy or violent, becouse the human's brain can find this in anything - no need even to try hard XD In different countrys there is different laws about age rights and standarts. In Japan you can start your sexual life at 14, in our country (Russia) it starts from 18 by the laws and standards (but sadly not many young people are following it). I know a lot of women who likes looking good just for themselves and not for anyone. And ofcourse I know a lot of women who don't care about how they look and are interesting people (all my girlfriends were more like this =3). People - are part of the animal world and we have instincts. It's a base psychology. Having it does not mean that we are unable to control it. Some people control themselves more, some less. But I can't understand the hype around sexualization and feminism, because it's becoming radical - more like some people just trying to force their personal points of thinking to overs. In the past century the feminism achieved a great thing for women part of humanity. But now - most of feminists (not all of them) are more like fighting with things they personally don't like. Think about it in my way for a second: is it bad to say what you like something straight instead of lying about it?
Expanding the topic: I have been a professional game designer for 3 years now. My skill level is at the Mid stage. I can tell that any game is a complex multipart product. Every development team decides on that parts of the game they want to focus user's attention. Jams are showing us that every theme can be done in in different genres and even the same core idea can be done in different ways. As the commercial game developer I can tell that the game should not only be made good but sold with understanding of marketing. Sexualization is one of the tools of marketing, but only porn games uses this tool like the only tool in the game. Arts, sounds, gameplay, UI, futures etc. all this parts creates the whole picture. If you cut one thing out of the game and will look on it without context - of course you'll be right in any logic. But only because you dropped all other parts. It's like... Are guns bad? It's dangerous - yes. But if there is a party of robbers in the house of lonely old lady? How can she protect herself? World is not divided on black and white, on good and bad, on woman and man. There a lot of gray points between two extremity.
About the inspiration from Helltaker:
The Helltaker was a reference only for the name of the game. All other stuff was created apart and there is bunch of easter eggs in game ^__^ Please tell if u found any.
Hey Black, thanks for the reply. I think there might have been some confusion regarding my comment. I'm not saying your game is bad. I'm not even saying beautiful women are bad lol. I think women are the most gorgeous thing on earth. It's not about sexualization, marketing, or feminism. And I really hope you don't feel like I'm attacking you.
It's way more simple than that. Sexualization is against the Community Guidelines. That's all. If your cheerleader/succubus were men in speedos with their dicks flopping around hahaha, that would be against the Community Guidelines too. :P I'm not surprised that you were contacted by the Admin. But! At least your submission wasn't disqualified. Just be sure to follow the Community Guidelines is all. Take care! ^^
Sure I didn't took your comment wrong =) It was my soul cry because right before you comment I've got a message from admin about the same thing so it resonated =)
And there is only point 4 about sexism. That rule is about no sexualiztion? Maybe I missed it.
The art is impressive. I enjoyed having to juggle the lives of patients. Although it did get repetitive after a while.
Thank you for your comment. Yeah. The repetitive is coming out fast in 0.6.1 v. We are working on balance, some voice lines and E2 (a big fun part =3) so then the game will be finished repetitiveness will not be so obvious. Hope you'll take a look at our game then it will be finished and say what you think about it one more time ^__^
Very cool!
Thank you ;)
Great style, visual and audio. (Although “This is madness” got a little annoying after a while).
I feel like the difficulty ramped up really quickly. I was cruising along fine and suddenly things started falling apart real fast!
Thank you for your comment. Yes, we had no time to finish the game balanse. Hope you'll try our game then we'll finish it on this or next week.
This was very cool! Very unique style and presentation. The gameplay was fun but of course it gets repetitive after a while. Very nice touch with the generator draining power and the lights going down. Really, very nice! Great job for the entire team, sounds, graphics, programming, design, everything was on point!
Thanks for the amazing comment. We did our best, but we didn't have time to finish what's in mind. We still working on it, and we'll finish it in the near future.
Thank you for you comment. Played your game and it's good looking too. Left the comment for you ;)
This is a really fun game, congrats. Our team went in the surgery direction as well so it's interesting to see how you guys gamified the operating room vs what we thought of. The power going out is a nice touch, adds quit a bit of panic. Very enjoyable game, great job!
Thanks for your comment! Yeah we went in the similar direction. I tried your game to and left the comment for u.
And I totaly agree that it's a good thing to be able to compare two games with same core idea.
What a big team! Congrats on your submission. Agree that it would benefit from a short tutorial. Loved the audio and the lights going out at the end was a smart touch - great job!
I loved the graphics and the funny comments of the patients haha, cool theming of the jam and hope you get to polish the game and maybe publish it, quite a team you are :P
Thank you for your commet! We sure will finish and publish this game .
This is an interesting concept. What makes it challenging is that if you mess up you end up with more problems to solve. For me though, the pace didn't seem to pick up so I could go on for a long time.
Thank you for your comment! We had no enouth time to polish the balance. The game will be more challanging and interesting as soon as we finish it. Hope you'll try it than it will be done!
Thanks for playing the game. Yes, the game difficulty processes system is not that good. We didn't have time to test the game will and adjust how the game start and progress in its difficulty. That because we were working hard on adding and finishing the other content, in the end, we couldn't, there is a lot of art, animations, and SFX and a mini and event we didn't implement because of the lack of time. We still working on the game, and we'll upload an update after the Jam is finished with more content and bugs and game play fixing.
The graphics and the music are stunning. The gameplay is challenging, the lights going out at a bad time are insane. THIS IS MADNESS!
Really well done. Your game rocks!
Happy that you enjoyed the game. Thanks for your amazing comment, You rock.
cute game i love the art and animation
Thanks for the comment, the artists did a lot of work on the art and animation.
Well one thing's for sure... i'm no doctor... so hell it is :p but that's ok
cause hell's got some Banger tune ! \m/ è_é
At first i had a hard time figuring out what tool was supposed to heal which sickness, so i went to some trial and error then i figured it out and manage to keep the single remaining patient i had for a bit of time untill i lost, but it was fun, also really like the artstyle, and well the music as i mentioned.
great job to all you guys :)
Thanks for your comment. Yes, your observation is in its place, the game needs a tutorial in the beginning. We have added an image on the game page that explains which tools to use with each condition.
I am still remembering you from Godot wild jam #24, I have so much fun playing your game (BushiDuo). And I'll definitely try your game for this jam.
No problem dude, haven't been able to jam that often lately so i missed a few, but i remeber you as well from wildjam 24 dude :)
and don't worry it wasn't like super cryptic to understand but cool that you clarified on the page, *grabs hell beer* (yes i'm still there... :p) cheers !
for sure you are a great team ...
can you introduce me to the nurses?
We'll try to implement such fеаture in the final version but I can't promise that we will be able to do that =)
Wow, this is an amazing looking game! So very polished. Good work.
Once I got the hang of it, I felt very efficient as a doctor. Could play this for ages! Well done.
Thanks for trying the game, and for your amazing comment. And really happy that you enjoyed the game.
Bob was always my last to die xD
Great graphics, and the audio effects and music all seemed to fit really well together. I liked the introduction of the generator with emergency power as well -- great way to bring another level of difficulty and mix up the pace of the game.
It took me several tries to really understand the controls, and the description on the page didn't really help. I think partially because I didn't understand at first that giving the wrong treatment means they then need the defibrillator in addition to the original, correct treatment? The blood, organ, and defibrillator symbols made the most sense for matching up the correct treatment, but the others felt a bit disconnected. I think originally I also thought the hearts were status symbols and just tried giving all the patients all the treatments to make them go away xD.
Finally got the hang of it, though, and if not for the generator needing powering could have kept them alive indefinitely!
Thanks for the amazing comment. The artists and the composer did an amazing job on the aesthetic. The notes that you pointed out are good, we didn't have time to do a tutorial at the beginning or just a note with text that explains things (we still working on the game and we'll update it after the jam). We will make use of the discretion of the game and add a tutorial there. Thanks for the notes and for playing the game.
Thanks for the big and complex comment! We added some memo as meta-info in description. Please take a look. If you'll leave one more feedback about the tools and statoses match I will be appreciative ;)
Poor Julian always dies young...
I have to give it to the fanservice girls, they keep going when everyone else has died.
THIS IS MADNESS!
Thanks for the comment, hope you enjoyed the game. Yeah, the nurses don't really care about the patients, there are just for cheering.
Ok... I would like to start with a little soul cry: This was my first jam ever. I'm the game designer and tried my best to make a fun core idea with my team.
The 0.6.1 Beta is the most we could finish in 9 days. It's playable but there is none mini-game (the E2) we planned for the last wild-card of this Jam. The over two are implemented - please tell if you found them =). There are Few easter eggs: some obvious like sounds and some visual, but most are didn't make it to the release because our programmer got a lot of work and had less time than expected. We will finish the game next week. Thanks everyone for votes and comments!
If someone wishes to contact me - feel free to do so. There is a GDD archive made by me about our development for this jam at the bottom of the team logo.
