Love the presentation on this one, and the 'Typing of the Dead style' mechanics was a pleasant surprise!

Developer

thanks for playing!

really liked the idea, the art, the music, and the transitions are done very well. But i have encountered a gamebreaking bug. i don't think the game is supposed to look like that ;-;

Developer

oh wow haha, I wonder how that happened.

Do you have the same issue if you run the web version?

If you can give me more details on how this happens I'll do my best to get it fixed.

Submitted

i played the web version, it works just fine, i was running the game on a windows laptop, this info is probably important

btw, the sign sprite at the beginning and "start" is also not visible on my laptop, had to guess that i had to type "start"

Developer

thanks

Developer

so far haven't been able to find any reason why it would behave like that, every computer I've tried looks very close to the web version :/

however, saw that godot 3.5 is introducing label3d! Thinking I can replace my custom implementation with label3d, and hopefully it would work better

Great job loved the art and a neat way to take the theme!

Developer

Thank you!

I love the art style, good work!

Great work! I wish that I had games like this when I was learning to type as a kid! I could technology classes having kids play games just like to practice typing skills. Excellent use of assets--you made a cohesive style that is beautiful!

Developer

Thanks!

I Feel the same, growing up with no typing lessons at all took me very long to become a proficient typist.

I absolutely love the game's art style and general polish. The smoothness of the camera feels incredibly nice. The only thing I'd complain about is that I found the game a little bit too easy, but really great job overall

Developer (1 edit)

It* wouldn't be too hard to add an extra hard mode :)

Thanks for playing!

beautiful! really well executed little game! and good job on the difficulty levels, took me 2 attemps to beat the hard one. i feel like adding a few more words to each list might have made it a little more interesting / replayable, but in general i liked this one a lot! congrats!

Developer

thanks!

This one took me pleasantly by surprise. I haven't ever played Typing of the Dead, but I'm guessing it was a fairly big inspiration. This was a really polished experience; those movements felt so fluid and satisfying to watch.

A bit irrelevant, but: I think I've used the exact same palette you did here in a previous project. It's a good'un, isn't it?

Developer

Yes!, big inspiration from Typing of the Dead. The thing with it, is that it's a double niche: typing and zombies. But really cool mechanics.

Thank you for your comments and taking the time to play!

Stunning! The combination of pixelart and 3D was joined together quite well. The world building and gameplay is easy yet amazing!

thanks!

Such games are always a struggle for me! Thanks for the difficulty levels :)

Everything worked almost perfectly, cool idea of quick events!

Developer

thanks for playing!

Oh this is great fun! Except for learning what a terrible typist I am. Could only pass the easy and medium mode. :(

I like how some of the words are related to what's happening in the game, and some just have Z's in there for the sake of it! A "programmer mode" with numbers and symbols would be interesting too. :)

Great entry, well done.

Developer

Took me a while to finish the game in hard mode. Expanding the word dictionary is definitely in scope.

Thanks for playing!

Finally, my years of typing paid off! Also, you definitely found a good way to make innocuous words seem menacing. The emotional effect of being presented with "MOZZARELLA" while being stared down by a dragon is... unique.

I also want to note that the little "boss" sign was such a good idea. It's both an announcement and a challenge, all in one, and even though it was such a small thing, it'd be hard to overstate how well it worked. Like, I had approximately 0 reaction to the elaborate Mantis Lords intro in Hollow Knight, but your little sign got me.

thank you for your comments :)

I really liked this game! Cool aesthetic, and satisfying gameplay. Hard mode felt like it was tuned just right, with good word variety, too! Really cool game!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it. Thanks for playing!

Nice little game, good difficulty curve for me. Looks great too!

The only thing I would say is that even if the attack speed increases a bit, there should be a short delay before they start attacking, because no matter how quickly you type it feels like you would always take at least one attack.

Developer(+1)

Wanted to add a way for the enemies to choreograph attacks before they happened. That way you could prioritize which one to attack first, but ran out of time, maybe for the next jam. Thanks for playing!

Cool idea - I like the health pick ups you have a limited time to type for :)
I was thinking for the diffculty you might have that effect the speed of which foes attack (may be different but felt the same).
On speed of attacks with how slowly the boss attacked compared to other enemies it felt easier than the normal ones.
Art is also really cool I love the stylea and the flow of the camera

Developer

I agree, the boss fight could use some work. Thanks for playing!
