A great entry! The mechanics felt very simple and yet so unique, with all the new elements introduced, such as fans and heating, it never got boring. I also liked the textless explanation of the new mechanics during the gameplay.

The visuals are really great, if there was one aspect I could critique, that would be the moss color blending in with the darker blue backgrounds. I could still recognize the moss position by looking only at the black surfaces on which it grows, but having more distinct colors could help the readability of the levels. There was a section with a lighter blue background and the moss stood out well against it.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing and the critiques for the game!
And yeah, the moss color was the one we were struggling with the most ahaha, initially we thought of making it a distinct yet not too far fetched color like reddish hue, but it looked too much like blood.  Guess we have to keep on experimenting with the moss color and overall contrast.

Fun game!

Good idea getting it playtested (as I saw in comments). Speaking from experience, just the people making the game doing the playtesting doesn't work as well, as they get used to whatever wonkyness they put in without realizing it.

The last level might have been a bit of a jump in difficulty, but I managed it without getting frustrated, only having to start over a few times.

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting! We did a lot of intensive playtesting from a wide range of players. It definitely help in refining the game into what it is now. I am glad you're able to finish the game and thanks for your comment!

Wow very polished entry. I like the concept of the game a lot. The Mechanics feel really nice! I also enjoyed the variety. I see the effort of 5 people coming together pretty well. Well done guys!

Developer

Thanks so much for commenting and playing our game! Took us a lot of playtesting and changes to make the game feel very nice! We wanted to include more mechanics as well but don't think it was feasible to make everything work within the short amount of timeframe. I am glad you like the game and thanks for commenting! Can't do it without the team :D

There's a lot to like here! The concept is unique, the controls are good, the levels are well designed, and while I'm not usually a fan of games having little sound, I think it works in this case. The final level was a bit of a marathon, and took me several tries, but it wasn't too bad. All in all, a really good entry.

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting on our game! Took us a while to polish to make the game what it is and of course wanted to further refine the game as well. I am glad you notice the game works very well with little sound! We were initially thinking of including a BGM for the game but having this very subtle ambience and hearing all the SFX with the raindrop jumping around, really works very well, especially for the location it is in. I am glad you manage to play the game all the way to the end and thanks for your lovely comment and feedback!

Really enjoyable game! Almost feels complete with the exception of the short amount of levels. Level design is definitely where this game shines. The final level was a great culmination of the different mechanics introduced throughout the earlier levels, and they're all very creative. Love the steam mechanic and especially using it as both an ascend mechanic and as an obstacle when falling into it from above.

The art style is really consistent and looks excellent. I feel that a tile set would really glue it all together. Audio was very basic and a song for the gameplay would be great.

Perhaps a small thing, but the ending scene was very nice with a lovely piano piece! Overall excellent work on this game. Looking forward to more Lighthouse Studios creations.

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear that you liked it :)

Designing levels were slow and messy, so we'll definitely switch to tilemaps from now on. We'd love to make more levels and introduce more mechanics if we have time.

Really nice design, love the polish and the audio. I had some trouble with the time-based elements when playing on trackpad.

Developer(+2)

Thanks! Adding an option for additional time before sliding/dropping sounds like a great idea for accessibility. Playing with a trackpad is a whole nother challenge.

Really nice game feels super polished made it to the end with no real problem the sound effects you had fit perfectly with the art and animations

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game! It took us a while with polishing and making the game much better. There were a lot of things we would love to include into the game too to further refine it but atlas, we just simply ran out of time :( Really appreciate your comment and taking the time to play our game!

A nice polished game! I was able to beat the last level first try somehow, but I think more checkpoints might help. The difficulty felt pretty good overall, so nice job with the level design and mechanics. The art was great too!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing the game and commenting! Really appreciate the feedback! Definitely would consider checkpoints, especially for levels that will be long. A lot of iterations for level design and mechanics as it is our first time making a game like this, same goes for our artist too! It was all of our first time :D

I absolutely love the raindrop animation. The setting is quite good too. I kept jumping around just to see it.  I also appreciated the effort you put into developing the game mechanics, from jumping, to sliding, to being evaporated for a while, and so forth. It's really enjoyable. Thank you for sharing

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing our game and commenting!! A few of our users did point out how cute the animation for the raindrop is as well! Even I would just jump around to see it go BOING BOING XD. Appreciate your lovely comment and thanks for playing!

Great game!  I loved the art, and your way of fitting with the theme. I did find the respawns very punishing and end up quitting after getting pretty far into the very long level and getting sent back to the beginning.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing our game! The last level was pretty challenging and we did thought of implementing either checkpoints or just split the level. The last level is meant to be the FINAL BOSS level where you have to use what you have known to get through it. Conducting a lot of playtesting, some players just find it rage inducing and find it difficult where they are almost done with the game, they get sent back to the start. Some players find it simple and easier to go through if they generally play 2D platform games. Of course ideally having more levels in between 4 and 5 would be ideal too! I highly recommend playing till the end, for the ending :D Thanks for your feedback and definitely will consider something like checkpoints for a much better user experience.

Short and sweet. Really like the art and atmosphere of the game. Game mechanics were pretty good, seemed like the jump curves were a little short so had to adjust. Thank you for making the appropriate level of difficulty... something I seriously struggle with in my games.

Developer(+3)

Yeah... The jump curves were a huge problem for us, and we wanted to make it more accurate, but couldn't figure it out in time. I think if we had figured it out, it'll probably be a decent improvement to how the player controls and feels.

As for the difficulty, we have to thank our playtesters for that. Through somewhat rigorous playtesting from multiple people, we slowly tweaked the levels until they were easy/challenging enough, but I personally still think that the final level is still perhaps a little too difficult.

Thanks a lot for playing!

Submitted(+4)

Very polished and well-realized concept. I was impressed by how long that last level was, it felt like a real culmination of all the gameplay concepts introduced in the earlier levels. Excellent work!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, we wanted to showcase all the mechanics that you learn in the game in the final level, as a "boss" level. But preferably, we'd have liked even more levels before the final level that mixed and matched different mechanics so that the player has more time improving their skills, but we ran out time. T-T

Great submission!

I loved the graphics style and the world around, it feels good being a droplet and wandering around through pipes. Also, I was amazed by the number of mechanics you put in this: each level has its own twist to discover, but still remains consistent to the core idea.

Very fun to play, congrats! :)

Developer(+2)

Yeah, we tried to design the first four levels with the intention of introducing the game's mechanics to the player, as a sort of built-in tutorial. I'm relieved to see it working out.

As for the number of mechanics, we actually had a bunch more ideas for other mechanics, but decided to scrap those to focus purely on a few instead. I think that's probably our best decision yet, otherwise the game probably would've been a mess.

Thanks for playing!

Holy shit that was such a clean game! I love the look, the animations even the minimalistic sounds! The controls are very good. Together with the fans, they are easy to learn, hard to master. The ending transition was hecking clean! Good job!!!

Developer(+2)

Glad you enjoyed it!

Our composer came in clutch with a beautiful piece, that somehow worked perfectly in the ending, vibe-wise and beat-wise. Even we as the developers were surprised at how good and clean it was when we first put together the ending.
