the tileset looks great and the music is quite fitting. I would love to play more and progress my character. are you planing to expand your game after the Jam?

Developer

awesome! thanks for the kind words, I had a great time with this project and had a lot of motivation trying to finish for the jam. truthfully, I don't know if I'll have the time with work stuff to expand into the ideas I mentioned below, but you never know

Not my usual cup-of-tea, but this is a pretty solid base. The torch mechanic is interesting, though it pretty much just killed me when I was trying to figure out why having more light mattered at all.

On my 3rd life the pool spawned just next to where I started, so I just used the torch to lure all the wolves over and took them out while taking a swim. After that, just kinda wandered around, wondering if there was more to see.

The music set the atmosphere pretty well and I really enjoyed the way the light played with trees to obscure vision. Really gave a spooky vibe.

Also, I have to wonder why all the antelope want this druid dead.

Developer

ha thank you for the play and feedback, I can understand the questions about an ending.  I had to leave a few Wildcards on the cutting room floor, that would have added to the loop I think. scope is hard!

You were meant to visit Shrines for each animal to unlock a Transformation and extra cool down ability (Wolf move two spaces, Antelope jumps walls, Snake ranged venom Attack), using WASD to transform

Also Antelope were meant to start Passive, and after X Antelope kills across plays, there would ne a Consequence that they would all be Hostile.

Really nice roguelike. I liked the graphics - they reminded me of Dwarf Fortress. Great job!

Big fan of roguelikes and put a ton of hours into MUDs and adventurer mode in Dwarf Fortress. This was really great re-creation of that genre of games!

I liked the torch levels and using that to scout without dragging too much agro from the mobs. I eventually found what I believe was the pool of legends and its healing waters. Nice job!

This was such a fun game! I haven't beat it (yet) - the mechanics for torch and what is happening took a bit for me to figure out - but I have to say good work! A simple concept that left me impressed

love the aesthetic and simple mechinics! just wish there was an easier way to escape enemies(if there are please let me know).

thanks for playing!  make sure to turn your Torch down to 1 with the 1 Key to reduce Enemy sight, abuse Diagonal movement near corners, and maybe try leading a conga-line to a choke point!
