Game Description
Play as a caterpillar trying to become a butterfly so you can enjoy a nice flower snack

How does your game tie into the theme?
Metamorphosis was taken pretty literally. You play as a caterpillar that is able to turn into a pupa/chrysalis to shield from enemies. With enough resources, you can turn into a butterfly.

Nice entry!  I agree with all comments made so far.  My only additions are I think the health/morph isn't quite enough as mechanic, it was too easy to cheese by trading a little, then just getting a few health/morph pickups and going to the flower.  Obviously jams leave little time for tweaking and it was still fun, just a thought.  Also, I think the vertical traversal was a really cool idea.  Other platformers let you drop and jump through the ground but having the transform made it feel like a cool ability (even if the collision was a little janky). Without having looked at the code, one possible way to solve the jank is actually locking out player control after choosing to go up or down, playing a VERY quick animation and use a raycast to see where the top/bottom is and a tween to go slightly past it.  Fun game, keep it up!

I liked the branch and ant designs, and the sound (and was impressed that you had an options menu to adjust the sound levels down). If you had more time I would like to see the caterpillar body be less rigid and adapt more to the surface of the branch it's crawling on.

Gameplay wise I got stuck on a level where all I could do was go back and forth between two branches, collecting two leaves while avoiding one ant. I could have also stayed on the half of the level where there was no ant and just passively collected the ever spawning leaf if I wanted to take twice as long with zero risk of fall or ant attack. The progress to fill the metamorphosis bar seemed a little long to me, I would recommend that either be shortened or add some more dynamic challenges to the level if you keep the accumulation rate where it currently is.

First time I played I ran into a geometry seam and fell through a branch to my death.
The second time I played when I finally got my metamorphosis bar filled up I ended up inside a branch, and couldn't move anymore.

Took me a few minutes to turn into a butterfly successfully, I thought I had to sit as a chrysalis until it happened... Read the instructions again and got it. Pretty unique controls, I like doing chrysalis hops between branches.

I got stuck inside the tree

Edit: After playing again i realized I needed to read all the instructions on the game page. Makes sense but I wish there was an in-game tutorial

There is still a bug (lol) where the caterpillar gets stuck inside kinda half-in/half-out of the branches and I still haven't figured out what's causing it.  I had planned out a tutorial in my head, but ran out of time to implement it.  I agree it would've made it better, something to prioritize for next time.  Thanks for playing!

Very interesting game once I figured out the chrysalis controls. But I kept getting stuck on the geometry and then had to start over! In game tooltips about what to do or more intuitive controls could help. But cute and fun nonetheless :)

Thanks!  Absolutely agree about the control reference/tooltips/indicators, something I want to focus on including for the next game.  Do you mind me asking about the "getting stuck" part?  Did it happen when transitioning from the chrysalis form, and was as it like the caterpillar was halfway in the branch and couldn't move or jump or anything?  Or does that not describe the way it got stuck for you?

It happened to me three times, in three different ways.
Once, as the caterpillar, I jumped off a branch and fell to the one below, but sank below the surface. I couldn't move and the camera was shaking.
Another time I formed a chrysalis on the underside of a branch, next to a curve in the branch which essentially made a wall to my left. When I transformed into the butterfly, I could not move. My guess was that I spawned too close to the vertical section of branch to my left.
The last time was while flying around as the butterfly. I flapped my wings and flew up into a branch from below, and became stuck similar to when I was the caterpillar.

Hope this helps!

This is a cool little game. Honestly, I really liked the sort of low poly 3D art. And the movement felt good to use. I did kinda get stuck on the lowest branches, running back and forth picking up the leaves to fill the morph meter (until I actually read the instructions and spent my health instead lol). And I never felt in real danger . . . I had so much health I could easily fill the morph meter. Cool game! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!  Yeah, it is pretty easy to avoid the enemies :)  I was thinking about adding a flying ant/wasp but ran out of time.  Maybe more ants with even faster speeds could've helped make up the difference.
