A fun idea with the glasses and switching mechanics! The theme was incorporated, and I also saw the color palette being used… check.
It was an enjoyable little maze game—not super challenging, but you did need to switch in time to figure out where to go next and not hit the walls.
Adding some new challenges in future levels would be great. Maybe things like power-ups that let you see both views at once for a short time or walls that appear in both views as a kind of trick—just a thought! Plus more levels of course 😊.
The background music fit the game well. All in all, a solid jam entry—good job! 😊
Good idea, play with two points of view of the same map, nice puzzle, would be nice have more levels, very good idea you get here.
Thanks! I would have liked to make it so that each level is randomly generated so that it's different every time but I wasn't sure exactly how to do that. I will look into it in the future though :)
Nice switching view with glasses but it word be nice to have then side by side.
I did think about having a side by side view, but I wouldn't know how to then go about hiding the different coloured obstacles.
A but short but i like how objects in both views stopped you so you really had to plan the maze,
I did found j a interesting choice to switch , but of course that doesn't matter. I would advice that if your gameplay is fully keyboard based to make people not have to click to continue but use a key instead.
Well done on your submission
Glad to hear you liked it. Not sure why I chose J, it just fits into place when both my hands are on the keyboard, what would you like to press to switch if it were entirely keyboard based. Also, for the continue, I did try to make it get any input from the keyboard but I couldn't seem to make it work. Space didn't work either so I just made a button that covers the screen. I can work it out in a later update though.
Possibly the most unique take on the theme in this entire jam. Kudos for that. Reminded me of when I got those 3D glasses for Spy Kids way back when. Amusingly, I was able to overlay images in a photo program and speedrun through this game. Gameplay is mostly really good for what it sets out to do. A dash button and extra music (perhaps cutscenes as well) could go a long way though!
That's great to hear! A dash button would certainly help navigate the mazes quicker, I'll take note. Also more music, I shall look into making more. Maybe two for each level - separate ones for each lens? Then some sort of victory music for when the player wins. Thanks for the feedback!
You could make dynamic music by playing Red/Blue's theme at the same time and having one suddenly mute/unmute depending on the perspective. I guess blue's would be a calmer version of the same track.
I liked the segment on how you used to get a ton of 3d glasses, it makes the game more relatable lol. I also liked how the glasses shifted when you pressed J, it made it seem more glasses-like. I also spammed J to see both colored blocks at the same time, maybe having a ranking rewarding you for switching less rewards the player more for memorizing the layout. You know what would be cool though? If the music changed with the color of the glasses. The music is short to boot, so having it be adaptive music will make it a little less redundant. This is a cool idea! (If you turn this into a form of pac man Ill sell you my soul)
Thank you for the feedback!! I'm glad you also remember the 3D glasses, I haven't seen them in YEARSSS. Rewarding the player for switching less and having different music for each lens is certainly great feedback that I will take into consideration for future updates.
