Wow, the gameplay really caught me by surprise! I wasn’t expecting something like this, and it was a positively surprising experience. I really liked the way we switch perspectives for combat and overcoming obstacles—it was very well done.
I believe additions like a combo system for defeating enemies or a chain effect with multiple consecutive destructions would take the gameplay to an even more satisfying level.
The story presentation was also great! I’ve always loved space themes, and this one was no exception—I absolutely enjoyed it.
Although the difficulty was reasonable, I feel like there could be an extra challenge when switching perspectives. Perhaps something like a shower of small meteors in space?
And since I can see you’re a fellow enthusiast of the universe’s vastness, here’s an idea for a future game (or even for this one): you could draw inspiration from the varied composition of meteors to create interesting effects upon explosion. For instance, clouds of smoke that temporarily blind enemies (causing them to miss their shots), debris flying around that could hit both the player and enemies, and even combustions on small, medium, or large scales, depending on the meteor’s size. I must admit, I used to think ideas like these were a bit illogical, but over time I’ve realized that fun often comes from embracing the craziness! So let’s just use reality as a foundation for everything.
Overall, I really enjoyed the game—it’s immersive, quick to learn, and a lot of fun. Congratulations on the project!
Thank you very much for playing and for the thoughtful and thorough feedback!
I already had a feeling we shared the same enthusiasm for space themes😊, and I’m glad you enjoyed the game.
I completely agree—embracing a bit of craziness can make games even more fun! Your ideas, like the meteor effects and combo system, are noted and definitely something to think about for a future update or even future jam games. I love hearing creative suggestions, no matter how wild they might be. In games everything is possible and certainly in this arcade like space game those ideas could be fun indeed.
Thanks again for your kind words and for taking the time to share your ideas—it means a lot! I’m glad you had fun with the game.
This game was very cool! I loved the star wars-esque crawl at the beginning, laying out the story of the game. The gameplay was just the right mix of challenging and fun! I feel like this would work really well as an arcade style, get the highest score, type game. Saying that, I wish there was a score counter that I could see. I didn't end up defeating the boss, he was super hard to damage. Overall, really fun game, game looks good, and sounds good. Had a lot of fun!
Thank you for playing and for the positive cool feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the Star Wars-style intro and found the gameplay both fun and challenging. We did think about adding a score system and even considered using the distance covered as a score and maybe make it an endless game, but unfortunately, we ran out of time to implement it.
Mini tip for the boss—save a few missiles if you can to make it a bit easier 😊! They do a more heavy punch than the laser.
Thanks again for your kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts!
Wow! Very awesome game I really loved it. The end was very tense I felt like I barely made it. Loved having to multitask, and the way that you incorporated the front view into combat for the boss fight. It felt a little hard to see where enemy shots were going to / coming from, but overall the ship combat was fun. Great game!
Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words!
I’m glad you enjoyed the tense ending (was not much time left to balance) and noticed the use of the front view in the boss fight—it was fun tying that into the mechanics. I’ll keep your point about enemy shot visibility in mind. Good tip!
To let you know: there is a random hit component in the shot calculation so they also miss sometimes and give the player some extra breathing room :-). But random is of course not very easy to see where it will go, so I will keep in mind for next time.
It’s great to hear the multitasking and combat felt engaging overall. Thanks again for your feedback!
Pretty amazing stuff! Right from the get-go, the Star Wars parody intro truly sets a fun tone. The music, font, and story is very much on-point there. The use of color really helps highlight the hazards. The sound effects sound straight out of a sci-fi film without having too much of a "stock sound" feel and the warp effects emphasize the sheer speed of the ship.
I also do not mind the lack of a front mirror. The perspective switching is very snappy. I wondered if it could be improved with a quick camera swing, but honestly that would no doubt be too disorienting.
I only have two nitpicks. First, the main menu. The buttons are too small for the frame, and it's too spaced out. Second, I wish the rear display was slightly bigger.
Thank you for playing and for the positive feedback—it’s much appreciated! I’m glad you enjoyed the Star Wars parody intro, especially since the game name itself was inspired by the Millennium Falcon’s Kessel Run also😊.
Regarding the rear display, I intentionally kept it small, but I agree it could be slightly larger, especially if the game expands. As for the camera swing, we actually tried it initially, but it ended up either too slow or too disorienting indeed, so we stuck with the snappy cut to camera.
No worries about the nit-picks, all feedback is valuable 😊! We have noted them. UI feedback is useful, and I’ll consider the menu layout and display size for future improvements.
Thanks again for the thoughtful comments and for taking the time to play!
You're welcome!
I enjoyed playing this, challenging but not to hard, i would have liked a few more power pickups i always seemed to run out of power.
I personally did not miss a front mirror at this stage it was usually fast enough to quickly switch move a bit and switch back so i was mostly in gunner mode. I could see if you extended this game and add more asteroids you would need something like a front mirror.
Only thing i miss is a web build. I think for jams unless its really impossible its best to provide a web build as you don't need to download, unzip wait for windows and virus scanner before you can play it.
This might also be a fun 2 player game where you randomly switch to gunner or driver position
Thank you for the positive feedback and tips😊!
I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge and found the difficulty balanced—it’s always tricky to ensure a good middle ground where it's engaging but not frustrating, especially for a jam game where people do not spend a lot of time on your game. I aimed to make the boss phase reachable without it feeling too easy, so it's great to hear it worked out for you.
Your point about power pickups is noted 😉! Did not think about a 2 player mode, but maybe indeed fun.
As a jam host I know and absolutely agree about web builds being better for jams. Unfortunately, due to time constraints I was not able too do that myself😅. I started with a Windows build this time, easy testing, but I’ll try to prioritize a web build in the future. Time management... A real killer in jam 😉...
Thanks again for playing and leaving such thoughtful comments!
Very well polished. I don't know if this was just bug or intended but when I destroyed the big ship I still had 2 more small ships left. I could not move anymore and they destroyed me. That felt kinda unfair.
Overall well rounded game. I would love to have a front mirror. It would help with collecting power-ups and evading asteroids.
Good job!
Thank you for your kind words 🙂!
That issue is unfortunately a bug 😓 — missed that one during the short test period. It was certainly not meant to be unfair.
As for the front mirror, it was a deliberate choice not to include one. Adding it would remove the need to switch views, as you'd be able to see and could aim for power-ups while looking backward, which would undermine the mechanic of managing both perspectives and the theme😅.
I appreciate you taking the time to play and share your feedback! 🚀
I assumed that this was a design decision and I can see why. I think with inverted controls it could still be a challenge. Anyway! Great game
Oh...damn I should have let those inverted controls in it.. ;-)
Just before release I coded it to be normal in both view :-)
Maybe should not have done that, and could be indeed a good trick to let it be a challenge with mirrors both side...
Something to think about! Thanks for the mentioning!
