I like what you did with the colors the spaceships looked very good
I did feel once i got attacked it was suddenly to much at once, might have been your intention
One tip i could give is make the star background move with you, the trail did show what way you was going but for me it was a bit visually disorientating
Yo. This music is fire! I was so sad when I found out none of the music loops, especially the start screen music :( My sad sad eardrums... Anyway, I had waves of enjoyment when I played this game. At first I was confused because the blue ships deal MASSIVE damage to you, which I felt was sorta unfair because of how fast they come at you (It had a sense of comedy to it too- you start on this grand journey, you begin reading the dialogue, you map your fingers to the contro- BOOM YOUR DEAD lol). In the commands, you have to press F for the arrow to show up, but I think something like that should be automatic. Once I got used to all of that, I found the space terminal thing and went inside. This part was chill, I discovered you can shoot yourself to death, lol (Some special dialogue would be cool here). I went to the left first to explore and clipped through the floor? I kept going right, then the game ended... I wanted more! I was just getting the hang of it and starting to have fun to the point where I re-played the game several times over, now knowing what to do and how to play. I liked the fast movement of the ships, I actually found shooting yourself quite charming in the game, and I felt once you got used to fighting spaceships, the difficulty evened out very nicely for me. I also noticed the backgrounds everywhere zoom out? I really liked it for the start screen! Besides the credits button not working and that weird 2014 emoji symbol thing sometimes in the text, I found myself enjoying this one! Blue death rocket spaceship/ 10
Simple arcade game. I did not like got actck trying to read text is too small.
I think it is amazing that you managed to put a full game out in time for the gamejam, with two different genres. I think that as you progress as a game developer you will be able to make better games, but this is already a good start.
Some of things I would change in this game.
Using F as a target finder feels like more work than needed. Had you just made the triangle always visible it would let the playerfocus more on the actual gameplay of flying the ship.
As for flying the ship, if your enemies are that fast, you should probably increase the field of view of the player. Several times the enemies would show up just to immediately collide against me.
Given the first part of the game is an asteroids like game, this is one of the view game examples where I would like for the controls to feel more like real physics an less like player input. I feel like the spaceship should keep the momentum.
With that said, good job on making a full game!
This is a prime example of how sound design can make or break a game. The audio mixing is all over the place, with the explosions being quite the grating volume. There are also no sound effects for thrusting, and there are no fades for the music. The thrusting animation also cuts off rather strangely and the starfield became glitched after I continued for some reason.
I echo that there's a good idea here, however. The arrow is functional, the enemy AI serves its purpose well, the hitboxes are solid, the scrolling looks fine, and the sprite work isn't bad. I hope you can find time to polish the game further.
The flying part reminds me a lot of the game Power of Ten, which is to say I think this is an awesome idea!
