Seriously impressive visuals.  I like how you had simple tutorial levels to show you how each ant works without telling you directly.  The physics system was a little jank and made the last level hard to do.  Maybe a snapping system or larger margins?  I would have loved to see what other levels could be made with this concept!

Developer

I took the idea of doing the levels progressively difficult with the intent to teach how to play from a myamoto interview :)

The physics was haaaaaard. Run out of time before could have polished it and made me levels!

High quality and well-polished. Music is high quality, but to me not so well fitted. Music is dramatic and hectic, but there really is no urgency in what I got to play.

It can be a long session, so save function would be nice, maybe auto-save at game exit at least for desktop-version.

Developer

Yes the music contrasting with the game play was a bit of an experiment to see what people would feel :)

The auto save is a good idea!

Looked great and sounded great!

Very cool idea, especially the ants being able to walk on the underside of the stick, figured that out by accident.

That felt a bit wonky and had a real hard time getting things lined up, but it 2was a real cool idea, i could also see this as couch coop :)

Thank you for the kind review! It took me too long to write the code for the ants to behave like ants and I couldn't polish well all levels as ran out of time...

Glad you enjoyed it!

I can't image what that could feel like aha.

It was a real cool mechanic.

The concept of the game reminds me of Trine or the classic The Lost Vikings, both of which I really enjoy same as your game. The ant theme and the necessity of cooperation are great elements here. In both games I mentioned, all characters need to reach the end, not just one, which reinforces the idea of helping each other. This could be a valuable addition to your game as well.

I also like the constructor character; within the ant theme, it brings to mind the image of ants forming living bridges. Perhaps your game could incorporate a mechanic similar to the old Lemmings game, where the goal is to build a path and minimize losses. You could have a bigger number of ants and the player could give them orders to build bridges, dig tunnels, or fly around. Just the idea about possible development of ant theme and your great game ;)

You nailed it where my inspiration came from :)

When I was putting ideas together I was thinking how I could merge lost vikings, worms and lemmings with different characters.

Interesting that you mentioned different number of ants. When I designed the mechanics I had in mind to use always 3 ants but then I noticed, once the characters were complete, tha any combination or number could work.

Another game in the future that is more inspired by lemmings but controlling ants could be neat as well 😁

Really cool game! The music is epic. I got stuck on the ground a lot. Don't know why. Otherwise awesome, I love being an ant

Developer

Thank you for the kind review 😁

Did you get stuck on the ground in all levels?

Submitted

Only a little in most but then I got completely stuck and couldn't move in the one where you need to bridge the gap. Couldn't leave the spawn point. Looks like it's only a me issue though if noone else is getting it

I got this far and became stuck. (Like, literally stuck, I couldn't get off the stick to get to the mushroom.)

I did try a ton of times but that was the closest I managed!

Really cleverly done puzzles and a nifty idea! The music is also delightfully intense! In a full, non-jam, version I'd expect that I'd need to get every ant from the start to the end in order to complete a level, rather than just one of them.

Being able to walk along the underside of the sticks, like real ants can, was unexpected and a neat twist. Though, for me, also pretty difficult to accomplish.

Great job overall!

Thank you for the review!

It was my first time trying to build a puzzle game so I'm happy you liked it! I ran out of time to test well all puzzles sorry about your ant that got stuck!

And yessss, what a headache it was to make the ants being able to walk anywhere 😅

Very nice unique visuals and concept with a very good revelence to theme. simple puzzles in the beginning to show the traits of each ant is pretty smart with harder puzzles later on. Good job!

Thank you very much!
