Description
God be eternally praised

This is my entry for Impressions Composing Jam: Imagination #2

"The LIGHTHOUSE" is inspired in a RPG Campaign of mine called "Signals of the Arquipelago", where four characters would end up in a strange island with an abandonated lighthouse that would send them back in time.

The song is contextualized in a moment of farewell as the protagonists needed to to go back but, the ones from the past just couldn't go with them to their time, so this is the moment when they Stop, Remember moments of their story together, and then finally say Goodbye, at the Far Reaches of Time.

The little ostinato at 1:35 is really nice. I like the bells later in the track, though the chord that comes after they come in maybe sounds slightly random.

Some of the mix is a little squished. It's some cool textures you've used.

Good job overall! :)

Good ambience, very intriguing!

Really liked the ambience portrayed in your piece! Sound selection were great, (Especially love the pad at around 1 minute) but I think some stood out a bit too much against the underlying pieces. Such as the section starting at 2:40, where the the idea is great but could blend in with the prior section in a cleaner way. You set up a lovely space with the introduction of the synth at 2:24 and its little additions until 2:40 but the bell sound that comes in there seems a bit too distinct from the rest of it and felt a bit jarring.

Each section is distinct with its own melody and vibe and serves to offer a point in the journey but would be great to hear a bit more about what they represent, and somewhat hard to link that back to the original prompt sometimes as it seems to be more focused on the lighthouse instead of the far reaches theme.

All in all, great work with some minor nit picks, and would love to hear more!

interesting layout! definitely room for improvement in the sounds (the resonating pad that begins at 0:57 gets a bit loud by 1:21. maybe it could be widened spatially? i feel like it could use more high end but its muffly sound might be intentional).

composition-wise it's interesting if a bit patient. i think i was supposed to understand some larger story throughout the piece, but i never did, even aided by the descriptions. for a piece that seems to have many separate story beats, i'd appreciate a more detailed explanation of what each part means :)

Solid solid mixing! Composition was good but I can't seem to relate this to the theme :/

But the song is good man, great ambience! I think the next jam will be right up your alley!

Also PT or BR?

Take care :D

I like your work on sound design, it really sets a strange and lonely feeling, my favorite track was the last one

Even though I'm not entirely sure where the farewell vibe comes into this piece, I felt that it was well done nonetheless. The vibe that I get the most from this is something between unsettling and foreboding - like something I would hear out of a cosmic horror story/game. That feeling for me was supported by the single-note synth line at the beginning, the harmony in the second half of the piece, as well as the image of the submission itself. I think if this was the vibe you were aiming for, then I'd say this was well executed.

With that being said, I'm not certain how the theme of this jam was utilized. My guess is that the text theme was used more-so than the image?

Thanks for sharing your submission, and keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the feedback TwT, i really appreciate it!

The track is inspired in an old project of mine so, this one have the same instruments (and some leitmotifs) used in the tracks i made for that project, this really strengthens the farewell/nostalgia part but unfortunately it is not noticeable since the original tracks aren't publicly released;

Also, yeah the story had this cosmic horror-like vibe to it as the as the eye on the cover suggests;

I admit, the way i used the theme may sound a little bit confusing, but i hope the image below can represent it in a comprehensible way;

Thanks again for enjoying the project, and have a blessed day/night!

This definitely helps! Thanks for the clarification!

I'm confused about the origins of this track, you say it's inspired by something entirely different than this jam? Does that imply you've had this track in the works since before the jam?

Either way, it's certainly off theme and lacks correlation, and while it's mixed well it's more of a solid ambient piece than a composed OST piece.
