As I mentioned in my reply to your comment, I like the sounds of nature in the background. I want to experiment with that in some future piece of music!

Description
Track made for the Impressions Jam #2
It depicts the journey of a traveler to the Far Reaches waterfall and all its greatness, inspired by the art work The Amida Falls in the Far Reaches of the Kisokaidō Road - Katsushika Hokusai, c. 1832

Gotta say I wasn't expecting the percussion and bass coming in, but it was a great choice!
Agree with the mixing stuff others mentioned, had to turn down the volume later in the track since the piercing sound was starting to hurt my ears a bit.
Really enjoyed the track, with the nature sounds adding quite a lot to the feel (seems to be a common part of many submission this jam 😁)
With a bit of tweaking the mix on things to make things a bit smoother, this will be even better.
Great work!
Using the foley for both ambient immersion and musical texture was really creative! The piano was very well utilised to create a sense of change and progression, there’s no real feeling of repetition or returning to “home” which fits your description really well. This would be a great immersive track for a game or short film.
Very nice use of sound design its very mic up close the transitions fits perfectly very creative use of piano. Well done.
Your choice of harmonies, textures and well-placed dissonance is nothing short of masterful. Very well done. This is so beautiful. You find a balance between grace and chaos and roll with it. The bassline is so engaging and interesting. Like other commenters have said, it's a bit quiet and the mixing needs some work. It's got a lot of highs and mid-highs and that bass needs to be louder and fuller. There are a ton of lows and low-mids in your piano and bass that could be making the song feel "full" but I feel like they're being repressed. Regardless of the EQ the composition is beautiful and this was one of my favorite songs. It's got so much variation, every measure brings a new thing for my ears to eat. It never feels "stuck" and instead feels like it's telling an evolving story. I love it. Brilliant work!!
Thank you so much for thaking the time to write your feedback, those words mean the world to me! :3
Did you listen to the BandCamp one? Still found it too quiet?
I totally agree on the mix feedback, I liked the the instrument placement overall but I think I should had gone wider and not repress the lows so much (which is clearly an overcompensation, as a bass player I tend to exagerate on the lows, mostly when recording stuff for the band xD)
Take care!
I really liked the intro for this, as well as the use of ambient sounds effects added a bit of a natural charm, I also noticed you used ambient sounds to make short beat near the start.
Over all tho I felt like I was walking down a winding path within the jungle right before revealing an opening of a pool with a water fall then taking swim.
I really liked the immersive feeling that this track brings right away and all the ambient sounds in the background that make you feel as if you're walking a long a path and encountering all these different things. I liked the percussive section in the middle a lot as well, the clicky percussive sounds with the deeper bongo-like drums was really nice contrast.
Not sure if its just me but the volume was a bit low.
Interesting start though. I can really see someone walking through a relative dry forest in sandals. and the Foley sounds seem to transition into music. So its like we are presented with the instruments via Foley before we hear how they combine to make music. and the Foley sounds bring us through different sections. Thank you for sharing this, i definitely felt like the traveler you mentioned in your description while listening to this.
I could see this in a cut scene in a historical video game or in a history documentary.
Thank for taking the time to leave your feedback !
It was a challenge to transform such textured foley into a good sounding beat and tell a sound story clearly, I'm glad to know it was a job well done! :D
Regarding volume, no comment from my mates on that so far, did you feel this with the downloadable version or BandCamp/Soundlcoud one? They are slightly different..
I wanted to go for something more light, in the classical / orchestral style productionwise, but might have over done it will certainly check it :)
Take care!
