Description
Music Composition for Impressions Composition Game jam
To get a sense of direction of what to compose for this project, the artwork by Katsushika Hokusai gave me an impression of peace and serenity with nature alongside an element of ethereal presence.
To incorporate these aspects, I took a calm approach, with the key being in Ab (I was able to create a melodic line using notes within this chord progression using synths. I added effects such as phase, flanger and chorus to give off this ethereal energy I wanted to include. For the nature aspect, I included nature sounds with added reverb to help deliver this impact,
For creating a rhythmic backbone, i wanted to keep the contrast of peace and mystery with a lower frequency, the bass is somewhat kept with the root notes of the chord progression (Ab, Fb and Ebm) but with added relative major notes so it wouldn't sound a couple of octaves lower than the melody hook line.
All recorded on Logic Pro X using MIDI and Alchemy - duration of 1min

I like the tone of the synth, reminded me of Stranger Things a little.
Composition and vibe is good, the mix maybe feels a little fuzzy.
Overall it's solid though, great work!
I could say a lot about your submission, great song overall, but what I got to mention is the song mimicning a water stream, very creative, hats off!

I love the analog vibes, it reminds me of those videos where you have to imagine being transported back to prehistoric times and just take everything in. I love it!!!
I liked it. It was very easy to listen and had a very easy going way about it. I would agree that you could have done more with it, possibly taking it off and developing it more. It felt like it was going to build into more and then didn't so it would have been nice to see where it took us.
The birds definitely added something to it as well.
There could have been so much more to this, especially in the last half which is basically just the reverb trailing out.
I think Alchemy is a fantastic instrument and really carries this track, but I think not cutting out the entire near minute of close to silence in the second half really hurts this, otherwise super cool track.
thank you so much! i understand this completely, it was originally suppose to end after that 1min but when i bounced it down (forgot to turn off audio trail) making logic give extra min of pure reverb and silence.
I like that you added birds chirping in the background, its a nice touch.
