Description
The Amida Falls in the Far Reaches of the Kisokaidō Road (Kisoji no oku Amida-ga-taki), from the series A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces (Shokoku taki meguri)
—
this art is from the series “A Tour of Waterfalls”, so i imagined a sort of adventure traveling from one side of the cliff to another, through the waterfalls and traveling through visiting them all. it doesnt necessarily have to be for a game, but i imagined this could play during a cutscene of a character flying around the waterfalls, whether that be a character with wings or even a hang glider or something lol
—
i had many different ideas but i was struggling to put them all together, so i went with this simple concept which i may build on eventually (in my daw, only the first 5 tracks were used, all others are muted)
Screenshot of DAW (required, but it can be uploaded shortly afterwards)
they’re on project page. idk how to add one here lol

nice little bop!
since you mentioned in some other comments that you're new to some mixing stuff (i still am too lol), some advice to make piano sound a little less "midi"-y is to adjust the velocity of individual notes and add a little sustain and reverb. when people play pianos in real life, it's rare that each note is played with the exact same amount of pressure, so adjusting velocity manually can help create a little more variance. sustain helps to connect the notes more so they don't get that midi choppiness. also if you're looking for any free VSTs with good piano sounds, spitfire LABS has some really great free piano packs in there!
I like the melodic ideas going on here, and the doowop progression is always a solid base to work from. As mentioned, some mixing would enhance the experience - the piano, especially, takes up a lot of space for such a simple line, and backing it off some would offer the lead voice(s) a little more room.
I'd also like to hear some elaboration on the drum part - nothing too busy, but some variation as the melody builds could help strengthen the overall sense of progression within the framework of the 4-chord loop.
thank u! yes i plan to add a bit more to it and make it sound better mix wise as well
Some cool ideas here. Keep it up!
thank u!
It's a nice little bop you've made for sure.
I think like others mentioned, there's not much in the way of mixing, where the synths sound kind of muddy/muted. It's also fairly MIDI in its sound, where it has that mechanical MIDI choppiness, which can be appropriate in some genres.
Great work though!
thank u :) yes i dont have much mixing experience lol so i just tried to do the best i could with it
Good track man! I think it needs a bit movement & "unpredictability", felt it was kinda linear at a point, I mean the artwork does give nature a lot of emphasis it would be great to have that transposed in the song.
Spite what I said before, composition is till good in my opinion, the mixing could use some work, it sounds to artificial, unless that was what you were going for.
Take care :)
thank u :) yes i dont have much experience with mixing lol so i just tried to make it sound as best as i could
I liked that lead synth but I don't know why it sounds a bit "muddy" in its melody, be careful when making fast rhythmic figures. Good job!
thank u :)
Interested in the muted tracks here. But there seems to be no mixing, just the raw VSTs, which is fine for a simple track like this, but I think overall hurts your ratings in the jam. But this is a good submission, nice work.
thank u :) yes im not very experienced with mixing lol i tried to make it sound as good as i could. and the muted tracks are just a lot of ideas i was working with not quite in a particular spot, but i may find a way to fit them in later, or into a new track
Post it unmuted in the discord, we'd love to listen.
I really like the chord progression used here, as well as the piano arpeggios. really has a cool vibe.
thank u :)
