Description
This is my submission for the Impressions Composing Jam: Special Holiday Jam - Personal Project “The Mountain King”

For this jam, I wanted to create something unsettling, dissonant, rhythmic, and formed solely of homemade sounds that compliment AM/FM radio recordings.

-STORY BEHIND THE SOUND-

“They say when Mount Ithaca stands and faces the Moon on the night of a Solstice, it casts no shadows. During the summer months, living clouds of red-winged blackbirds plummet mid-flight and litter its slopes with their corpses.

Most curious of all, townsfolk living near Mount Ithaca claim that during the Solstice, a peculiar AM radio band begins emitting otherworldly noises for a few minutes. As no recording of this phenomenon exists, I set out to capture it.”

I love this! The drum production is really solid, I really like the way it feels floaty until it eventually settles into a groove. Really enjoy the way it sounds like a found recording, the sound design is very well done. The synths that come in at 2:04 are freaky in the best way. The glitched out vocal sounds that are happening throughout add to the atmosphere.

Great sound design and a wholly original take on the theme. So good!

My ears rang with pleasure for the whole duration of the broadcast. Really love the sounds and the dedication to the story/aesthetic. It feels natural for me to interpret this as a literal "otherworldly" song meant to hypnotize and spread subliminal messages. I find the use of an FM synth in a piece about an old radio is really fun and works extremely well. Great work!

Not gonna lie, hard to rate this one on composition but its defenitely unique, the mix is well done though. You went full on with your ideas.

Okay... you made me:

1) Scared

2) Pray to god.

3) Start dancing to a beat that should NOT make me dance.

4) Sing along to the mountain king (he sings better than I do).

Awesome job! And very, very unic. !

Reminds me a lot of the early 2000's IDM scene. I'm a big sucker for synthetic/distorted speech.  Cool stuff.

interesting to say the least
