Cool game! The puzzle mechanics are fun, I'm sure some interesting levels could be made with these and a couple more tinctures. Also well done on adding an optional secondary objective for those who like challenges.

A small nitpick - it isn't immediately obvious which tiles are passable - it took me a few deadly falls to realize I could walk through the white pillars. :D

Developer

Completely valid feedback!! In fact, I've already swapped the light and dark pillars, but wanted to keep the itch version as what I posted at the deadline, until after judging! But you're right! It was a total oversight by me and in hindsight it seems completely obvious! 🤦‍♂️

Very cool! the character looks like a jawa!

Took me a while to wrap my brain around the puzzle but loved seeing the later stages seeing how the different blocks interacted.

The mechanics in this are so good! Puzzles are challenging, but that makes it very rewarding when you finally get them. I'd recommend a 2nd pass on the art. It was hard to tell that some of the floors were actually floors, and some pillars were not actually pillars for example. Might make the interactive tiles look more "interactive" too. But regardless of that, this is one of my favorite entries in the jam. Please consider making this a full game, you definitely have something special here!

Really like the game mechanics here, has a lot of potential. I found the visuals to be mostly good, but it was a little confusing at times.  Usually I'd say darker objects are further behind, lighter objects are closer, but here the white pillars you can walk in front of and the darker grey/blue are walls you can't pass, that made it a little confusing at times. Overall this was great though, fantastic work.

Really well polished visuals. The gameplay takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it it's pretty good! I did soft lock myself by destroying a platform against a wall that you have to land on and when you die the platforms don't reset, and by jumping in that cauldron shaped area near the end. But otherwise good brain teaser that made me use some braincells, DAMN YOU.

Developer

I'm curious about where you got stuck, because I was EXTREMELY conscious about avoiding soft locks. I had to redesign the entire level twice because of it. I even completely changed a game mechanic because of it! Level design isn't really my forte so I'm curious where I missed.

Great job, especially if this is your first game.

I would like to see coyote-time being implemented as it improves the "game feel" part of any platformer significantly.

I think there's potential in the tincture mechanic, keep up the good work!

Developer

Yeah, Coyote time was the only thing I wish I had implemented, but I thought I might be able to get away without it given it wasn't a precision platformer, but even I felt like it was missing when I played my own game.

Submitted

Yea thankfully coyote time is not that difficult to implement.

I like to store the last grounded time, and then allow jumping if current time is withing the coyote time threshold of the last grounded time.

You could also implement reverse coyote time, where you allow enqueueing jumping in the air, and then it automatically triggers when you hit the ground, this is the fundemental part that makes platformers feel very responsive.

Really nice platformer with interesting mechanics. The movement feels really good and precise. This being your first game amazes me. Great work!

I would give you high rates if I could

Hey friend I found a bug;

When I completed the level and click replay, the tincture doesn't seem to work on changing the first slab into a conveyor belt.

Other than that I enjoy your game mechanics a lot :)

Glad you liked the game!!! Thanks for pointing out the bug! I've fixed it! :)
