How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
It was planned to have mechanics regarding the undead and an oversized needle weapon, all that was scrapped due to time, I go into detail in it's postmortem (linked on the game description).

A pretty atmospheric game with unique puzzle mechanics, it remembers me Creepypastas like "petscop" which i really adore, making this game quite more impressive than you may expect

Super curious now that you say it! I originally wrote this game’s engine for my own little ARG game that is heavily inspired on Petscop.

And trust me, comparing my stuff to Petscop is one of the greatest compliments I can get, thanks a lot for playing my game!

The game looks really nice. I really dig the "2d pixel art in 3d with effects and filters" type of deal. The song is fantastic, made me cozy right out of the gate, you could say I became a sleepyhead myself.

I'm really sad, that you couldn't finish the game in time. I hope you can continue working on the game and turn that "post mortum" devlog into a "we are so back" devlog.

Also, I like the main character a lot. He is just a sleepy little fella. :)

Also, the lizard man is just standing there. Menacingly.

Thanks a lot! I am happy someone also enjoys this aesthetic! My thought process for it was “What if Paper Mario, but it’s actually Undertale”

I am very happy you enjoyed the song! It was probably one of the hardest artistic decisions I had when developing this game, because I both wanted it to be slightly creepy and dark, but also funny and cozy. I eventually found the right balance by having this dissonant creepy dominant seventh chord that would eventually resolve into a fleshed out and more “pop” sounding harmony, with this postmodern earthbound-esque instrumental that cemented the fun aspect further.

The ELMEATB (Evil Lizard Man of Evil and All Things Bad™) was an almost afterthought I had where I wanted to hide something creepy hidden somewhere in the game, so I went on to an AI image generator service and described the main character, just to get an abhorrent, photorealistic image of a crocodile person thing, which I INSTANTLY added to the game just to see if someone would notice him lol, you can also see the original image at your own discretion.

Hopefully one day I can find the energy to finish this, thanks for the kind words, and Good luck on everything!

Nice game. Nice aesthetics. I agree with other people that the theme and object weren’t in there, but it’s a very nice little game.

Developer

Yeah, I talked about it on the post mortem post 😅

Thanks for the nice words anyways, though!

I just read the post-mortem. Sorry to hear about your week. I’m glad you still submitted the game. I look forward to seeing more of work in the future. :)

Good luck with the jam, and game making in general!

Really great concept, I really encourage you to complete this project , it can really turn into something big.
-The Music and SFX are very suitable and decent
-The particle systems are eye-pleasing
-There aren't that much 2.5D games out there, so it is a very nice experience.
-The game is chilly and relaxing
-I read the details over the theme and the game idea so I will avoid this point.
Overall, The game is very well design .Truly Great job and keep it up!!!
Looking forward for future updates.

Thanks a lot! Nice that you got to enjoy my game after all! I was not sure I wanted to continue working on this game but I might give it a second chance after all :)

I really enjoyed the art and general aesthetic of this game! I am a bit sad you weren't able to implement everything that you wanted, but I understand the struggle and appreciate the effort you put in to this.

I don't see much necromancy going on and know that you weren't able to implement the needle weapon you wanted, but I had a nice time exploring the small world you set up. I liked finding the hidden things behind walls. Nice work!

Oh and scrunge spooked me, was not expecting that...

Developer

Thanks a lot! I really put my soul onto this game, and it feels nice that a fellow game developer can also see this from the gamedev POV.

My main focus on this project has been movement and level design, I tried to make moving the main character as smooth and as nice as possible, so that every other thing would feel natural and logical, I even decided early on to have ZERO UI text to cement this idea further.

Oh, and “scrunge” is a left-over from a little feature where typing out certain “cheatcodes” found across alternate paths in levels, would grant the player useless yet fun effects, like “ASCEND” was meant to make the player float and emit so much light you can barely see the stage anymore, or “EMBOOTZ” which would give the main character squeaky red boots.

Thanks for playing! It really really really means a lot to me.

The movement really is very nice, I noticed the effort that was put in to it right away. I'm also a sucker for cute things, and your croc character is one of those cute things.

A cheatcode feature like that is awesome and would have enjoyed seeing more. I hope you're feeling a bit better and take care of yourself! Even if you don't continue developing this project, I'm sure you will do well with whatever other projects you work on.
