This game is really ambitious and fun!
Really great work, thank you for making this game, it feels very unique. I hope you continue working on it. With a game like this it can take a little while to figure out how to balance everything you have so just keep tweaking and listening to player feedback.
Awesome entry!
Nice use of the Web Speech API, which frankly I didn't even know about.
I'm not famiiar with Civilization and RTS as a whole, but I miss the lack of enemies and threats. There seems to be not much incentive to build and research new units, other than just unlock them and see them in action.
I mean, near the endgame, I just kept tapping 'E' until I leveled up my village enough to build the spaceship.
Of course, those things are expected in a full game, and you made A LOT of content for such a short Game Jam.
Congratulations!
Yeah, the lack of enemies was mainly due to lack of time to implement it. But someday, I hope to turn this into a real solid turned based strategy game.
Meanwhile, this is just a weird builder game where you can just chill, explore and grow your animal population. 😛
Very impressive, did not expect that much content. I'm close to the spaceship but dont know how to spend my research points
You don't manually spend the research points, they just get accumulated automatically until it's enough to fullfill your current research.
For building the spaceship, you might need to spend wood and gold, and you need a village.
Yes got my spaceship, the ending is a nice touch ;) Got the tutorial alert "you have to spend your research points" at every turn despite having apparently done all researchs, i guess it's a bug
Oh right, I missed that. Thanks for pointing that out!
The explanation 'Pigs are just pigs' made me laugh lol
Being a bit unfamiliar with the genre made this a bit difficult for me, but I can see a lot of effort was put into explain things, which helped a lot (found the low make voice alongside the lady cat assistance a bit jarring, but in some ways this also adds to the humour)
It's unfortunate that the speech synthesizer is inconsistent between operating systems. It sounds really nice on Mac because there's many voices to choose from, but on Windows I think there's only some male voice, and on Android the default is female voice for all.
oh wow, this game is actually huge! there are surprisingly a lot of units and actions you can perform in this, it's honestly very impressive for a jam game! it took me a long time to get used to it, but i eventually started to sprawl my village with a lot of animals helping me out!
it really did take me a long time though, while the game tries its best to explain how it works, the general ux and presentation often make things a lot more confusing than they should be. for example it took me a while to realize you can actually move the animals, i had a couple of dogs and cows stacked at the beginning wondering when i'll get to move them. it also made no sense to me at first why should i leave animals idle or let them go and so on and so forth. the game has a lot of going for it, but it unfortunately comes off as very intimidating, even though the game itself is pretty simple and enjoyable to play, cozy even. a better introduction of mechanics and introducing them when they get relevant would be amazing and it would definitely soften the learning curve!
Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking the game could be confusing for someone who's never played the first Civilization, so I added some tips, but I guess there are some parts still missing.
I just added a new tip right after the dog / cow or sheep research. Hopefully that helps.
Good game! I really like the sounds and sprites. The cursor and clouds are really cool!
