It was a lot of fun looking for all the animals. Great use of the puzzle game starter project! It felt kind of easy to be able to move tiles around as much as you want without penalty, but with so many animals it would be impossible otherwise. You could maybe start with less animals at first and as player makes matches introduce more.
Hi,
Good game, but mostly a reskin of the original game - https://github.com/KilledByAPixel/LittleJS/tree/main/examples/puzzle and I wish there was more innovation or something new.
Congratulations!
pretty cool box slider, the characters are pretty cute and it feels good to play. i'll echo the sentiment left by others and say that a lot of tiles look alike, some variety in color would've elevated the game so much!
Nice submission!
The game itself works well; I'm not a big fan of tile matching games like this, but I did play for a bit just to get a good feel for it.
The mechanics themselves feel good as far as clicking and switching tiles and matching them also. Nice animation for that. I think the sound for matching could be better and inspire more to continue playing. Right now it kind of sounds like a whiff like you are missing or I guess the tiles are disappearing. A more satisfying sound would be better. The tile switch sound is just fine.
Some background music would be great too, especially a track where you could increase/decrease the tempo as the player started matching more or less tiles one after another.
Another big thing would be to simply introduce a timer or goal of so many matches to advance to another level, even if the level was just a numerical designation and didn't change the level design at all.
Either way, this is a nicely laid out, working implementation!
Nice looking puzzle game! One observation I have is that some animal tiles are quire similar, or have similar colours. Perhaps this could be varied a bit. To add another layer to the puzzles, perhaps there could be additional rules like some animal not being allowed together etc.
This game is really cute. Swapping tiles is really fast and responsive!
I would love to see a time limit or some repercussion to bad choices. Currently there is nothing stopping me from moving tiles as far or as fast as I want. Good game!
I think you could (probably) improve the game a lot by allowing same-colour resolving. Same animal could give extra points. Currently there are no combos, so it's not very satisfying.
