Wow... that was the true chillout experience. The art and the music are just outstanding. Simple rules, perfect execution, very enjoyable game.
Thank you! We are happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Fun game, although I was expecting more out of it, like more merging of houses and castles. I also found a bit confusing as to why sometimes two houses make a yellow roof casted, and sometimes they make a green farm. It would be also nice to have different tiles at the beginning, just to have some variety in the game
Thanks for playing! We also would love to have more tiles with more upgrades but unfortunately we had to cut the scope somewhere and just make a really tight gameplay loop for the jam. This is by no means what we would personally consider "finished". Rather it is our idea of an MVP of the idea and concept of the game. Stay tuned in the future as we are in discussion about developing this game further post jam!
Great job, looks already very polished :)
Thank you! I loved playing your game as well, the sketchy style was on point!
Pixel art is amazing, I love the sounds as well especially the sound when you build combine up to the manor (or whatever it is). The UI design is also very impressive coming from someone who struggles with that. Perhaps larger map sizes or different environments could help add more variety to the game.
Thank you! Our artist worked very hard on the art and I'm glad to see people love it so much :) Larger maps and different environments would be so cool! I'll note it down for further development post the jam!
The visual arts are great. Good job!
Thank you! Your game looked amazing as well! Loved playing through it :)
276 with 5 castles... that's pretty good right? There is something very satisfying about that sound when you build a castle. Very cool and relaxing game. Well done!
276 is pretty good! We do have 1 user getting +400 on some of their games so there is definitely room to grow! I put the castle sound effects in the night before the jam was due so I'm glad it has added to the experience! Thank you for playing!
I love the pixel art!
Hey thanks! Played your game as well and the pixel art was on point! Well done yourself :)
The art looks great, but there's no goal to the game at all.
Goal is to get Highest score possible. My PR is 375, grinding to get to 400 some day!
Yup! This is an arcade style game where the only goal is to get your score as high as you possibly can!
Great pixel art and audio. :D
Great job, The artwork and audio are really nice and the guide in the top right gives the perfect amount of information. It's nice to see a menu with options and a guide in a game jam title, that's often overlooked.
It would be nice to see a mode without the corruption, just for those who want to chill and make a little kingdom.
A great entry!
We have gotten a few requests for a "non-corruption" mode and we are thinking about making an update after the jam to do just that! Glad to hear you enjoy the game!
Art style and audio were great! Found the game a little frustrating, as some of it didn't make sense to me.
Frustration for me came from:
- Merging was only in one direction, not both
- Felt a little pointless due to not really much of a goal and the game ending too quickly (I know you probably didn't have time to add higher tier buildings but that would've been nice)
But other than my minor criticisms, I thought that aesthetically this game was one of the best on here, great job!
Thanks for the feedback! The reason the upgrades are only in one direction is to ensure all your tiles are "connected" together. We weren't able to enhance the visibility of that, but it was something we did to make it really fit into the theme of the jam even further than just upgrade paths. We also did want to add more upgrade tiers but time got the better of us and we had to cut scope down quite a bit from our original ambitions!
We are happy to hear you enjoyed the game regardless of these short comings!
Oh damn I didn't even realise the titles had to be connected together haha, I totally missed that mechanic of the game. Increasing the visibility of that would definitely have helped me understand the game better and yes of course more time would have really allowed this game to flourish :)
Well done!
The game immediately attracted attention. I really liked the style and atmosphere. Both the artistic component and the music are at a very cool level.
The gameplay does not give any challenge, but is understandable and enjoyable. It has the potential to create something big.
I think if you made it in just a week, then you should keep working and eventually release a great indie.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We intentionally kept it small as we are just a team of 2 (1 programmer, 1 artist) so we figured out what was fun and enjoyable to play and had potential to expand in the future post jam. We are in the talks of making the game more than what it is post jam so stay tuned!
something new for me! great music too. thank you for the experience.
You are very welcome :)
You knocked it out of the park, congratulations! The artwork is SO good, and the mechanics as well as game design are clean and well though, one of my favorites so far from this game jam
We are so glad you liked it! Our artist really put in their everything into the graphics for the game and I'm happy to see it showing through :)
Game is very aesthetically appealing. It's a very chill game and I played a few rounds of it while enjoying myself. Took be a little while to get it but I can see it as a game I'll play again.
This game looks absolutely beautiful and has the potential to be something special. It reminds me of board games I've played. The biggest problem is that it's really not easy to know what one is going to build. I get that there's a legend up top, but it would be nice if there was some visual confirmation such as a building silhouette or UI element. There were times when I was trying to build one thing and it built something else without me understanding why.
Thanks for the feedback! We also saw this as a potential issue with the visual language, but due to time limitations (and this being my first time making a game like this) it just wasn't in the scope to improve that visual language of the game to really make sure the player knew the consequences of each action. We hope to remedy this in the future post jam!
The art is awesome, I always the upgrading kingdom kind of games. Nice job!
Great pixel art. Gameplay is engaging and enjoyable
Absolutely stunning art direction. I'm not sure if there was a goal I needed to meet, but I filled all the tiles and had a great time anyway!
No real goal, just try to get the highest score you can and compete with yourself if you like! A casual game to just sit and chill with :)
I can definitely get behind casual -u-
beautiful art. I like the existence of doom mode
Doom mode is really the only real way to play to be honest ;)
