Really cool game! It was impressive what you did with the graphics - so small but still able to identify everything the character is doing. The camera movement was great to compliment the high jumps (only moving up when on a platform) - reminds me of the older mario games. Awesome entry, well done!

Simple and interesting. It was a good experience. I liked the graphics and music. The jump feels a bit weird at the beginning, but you get accustomed to it. It was smart what you did to inform the player about the charged attack.

Dope "little" game. I just wish I could use a controller.  Try my game out if you have the chance: https://lazerfalcon.itch.io/pollen8r

Thanks!! I believe Pico8 has controller support, but I have to check if it works with the browser version!

This game is sweet! the music and visuals put me in mind of Metroid and Blaster Master.  This I believe is the most low rez submission I've played. Everything is so tiny but still completely readable. great job!

Old-skool platformer, with a really high jump. There's nothing necessarily innovative about this in gameplay, but there doesn't need to be; it's fun, and well-implemented. And it does a lot with not many pixels at all. I appreciated the ability to change the music, too. Nice work!

Thanks!! I wished I implemented more mechanics to make it a bit more original, but with pico8's token limits that was kinda hard, so I made some workarounds on gameplay hehe :)

Excellent job!  Audio, graphics, gameplay all fit the 64x64 theme really well!

Developer

Thanks!! It means a lot :)

This was pretty great, apart from one major issue for me - the camera. I'm not sure why, but the joltiness of it made me feel almost motion sick - I wonder if, with how the levels were generated, it might have been a better move to make the camera's X axis follow you but the Y axis lock to your current level.

Apart from that, I could tell it's a great game. A lot of variety, a lot of fun to play, with well crafted procedural generation that never felt unfair, presented in a very pretty art style with good sound and music and good use of the 64x64 resolution. Great work!

Developer

Thanks! And yeah, a couple of people also complained about the camera. My theory is that since it's pixel perfect and the resolution is so small, moving in diagonals feels jittery when X and Y motion doesn't match. But actually, moving the camera the way you described might actually work :)

Real nice work, controls feel nice, it's easy to jump around, music is cool.

Developer

Thanks! I appreciate that :) If you have any feedback on things I should change, let me know!
