Did you work in a team?
4 members, one programmer, one artist and two sound people. It was pretty fun!
Was the resolution a challenge?
we tried to make object easy for the player to see, which wasn't easy at this resolution
What did you learn?
we learned that making good games isn't about high pixel count, it's about having fun both making and playing them!

Great aesthetic and sound effects! The animations are great, and hitting the wolves / rats was very satisfying. The text at the beginning of each level and the timer didn't contrast with the background enough and was hard to read, but regardless great job!
Great game, felt so fun! Totally love the characters and the gameplay is so simple yet so compelling. The sounds were also very good and the cutscenes as well. Sometimes I wasn't sure why the level ended though, which threw me off. All in all great work!
thank you for the feedback lizardking!
glad you enjoyed our game
Sorry about the abrupt endings, it's when timer runs out :D Definitely should've added some sort of notice, like a chime, tense music or such, or a flashing red indicator.
Great game, controls feel really good. As if often the case when rendering 3D this small, a lot of detail is lost, but perhaps that just adds to the charm.
Haha. You pretty much paraphrased the first thing programmer said upon recieving my models.
The 64px resolution thing really saved my ass, I could really skimp on the details. Maybe I should've skimped even more, since theres a few "noisy" pixels floating around as people point out, eg the ground details and the sheep/ram wool, because of me using a "crosshatch" brush.
I made wolf with my usual gradient technique, and while they are rarely observed with detail, I think it looks nice on them. I think 3D gradient games(wheter by UV or by material) look really nice on this resolution.
Great controls!
Thanks :)
Thought it looked and sounded rather good. Controls felt solid and the feedback when hitting an enemy was really good, to me. I was confused in the beginning though because, in my mind, red is bad and blue is good, so I kept going around and hitting the babies(??) instead of the mice and wolves.
Yeah, sorry about the colors, upon not staring at the game everyday, looking back, the outline choices are very strange :D My bad, wanted to subvert expectations, oh well!
The "babies" are sheep :) But calling them babies is cute and kind of makes sense in context anyway :3
Great work on that camera. The ram really looks the part too. The rat sound is a little too high pitched for how often we hear it.
Yeah, none of us are skilled with soundwork, which I feel is one of the weaker part of the game. Lots of sounds are very bassy and rumbly, thus the rats stand out. A thing to watch out for next time! :)
Great movement! Controlling the Ram felt really good.
Thanks, it was #1 priority :) Movement (and JUICE)!
This game is cute and fun to play! I think I agree with others about the general ‘noisiness’ of the pixel-art, but as you’ve said there’s not much to be done about that.
The atmosphere and overall polish is great.
Thanks a lot! We made sure to perfect the movement. Was afraid the mood would be cheesy, good to see its ok :)
Absolutely awesome mini game. It would be great to see a full-length version of this because of the consept. The movement was smooth. I also liked the idea where the player character is an animal. -oneak
Thanks :)
Oh, haha, we originally wanted to make an endless mode with waves n stuff :D Well, perhaps in the future...!
Hello! I played your game on stream! If you want to see your game played with live feedback, you can find the VOD and watch from this sheet: http://bit.ly/bean-stream
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
To address each point:
-Wow, I'm surprised you liked the "Poems", as we call them, and their music. Just a little bit of cheese I added. The soundtrack too, its mostly random electronic sketches. Except for the great chase music!
-Haha, sorry about the text. Kind of gave up on it since it just would not play nice with the scrolling camera, so i added the important stuff to the desc instead. DAD CND
-Artstyle, I dunno, I think it comes to personal preference. Most of our "focus group" thought of it as really nice. Noisiness is the unfortunate side effect of being a 3D game, even with this relatively simple art. Glad you found the outlines helpful, if oddly colored. Since sheep and ram (using the "terrifying" prompt here) use the same material, so they ended up being red... Can't color the enemies red then! Point definitely taken, though. Its the kind of thing that devs overlook.
-AAAALSO. Oof. Due to a last minute "fix" with barn percentages (that used to give 100% barn on last level restart), due to your undiligent mouse killing in the first two levels, you managed to screw yourself on the 3rd level! :( Mostly second one, since the first even my mom beat by just ramming herself into a corner... but this easiness prevented you from playing again!
-Sorry I wasn't at your stream cause it was after midnight :( It's great!
Loved the use of outlines and the pixel style. Great sound and the ram felt good to control. All around a really nice game.
Thanks a lot :)
"Great sound"? Whew! Glad it was not annoying/loud :D
