Was the resolution a challenge?
Working in 64x64 resolution shaped every aspect of the project and it was an exciting challenge! We had to consider the screen size of every sprite and also figure out how to handle UX in such a small space

Thank you for playing :P

Really solid entry. Interesting concept and great art.  The cursor changing when the fire is ready is a really nice touch.

Missing a color once would usually send me into a death spiral though.

Developer

That's great to hear that you liked :P
Thanks for playing <3

Wonderful right the way through - it's a brilliant central mechanic, with the additional colour combinations introduced at a good pace that didn't feel overwhelming.

The art and animation is great, with tons of charm. Loved the particle effects from explosions, which added plenty of weight and juice but never felt overdone.

Soundtrack is great, and the sound design is spot on, with the

I loved the attention to detail, with things like the cursor changing colour to match the active combination just adding a lot of polish.

Made it to stage 10 - the loss screen is so sad :( I'm sorry I let the little plant guys down

It felt really good to hear from you.
Thank you for playing and for your detailed feedback :P
We apologize that there is no restart feature on the same level you lose :(
Its quite annoying to restart from beginning after reaching last stage.

Great game, good visuals. Finished the whole game. At first I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't read the description, I mixed the colors and then didn't know you have to fire manually.

Another thing that I found confusing is how you can add colors to existing mix. In especially frantic situation it kept me trying to add the right color but I can't add any because there's white already. I think the game would be better and more fluid if adding new color to the mix just replaced the already existing one.

Developer

Thank you for your valuable feedback. There are some optimization and guide deficiencies, sorry for that.
Also congrats to finishing the game. Not even the whole dev team could finish it :P

Really fun game and it makes the most of the resolution as well. Very engaging especially as it speeds up :)

Thank you so much for your nice comment!

Perfect! 2 optional themes in one game! Good gameplay, good graphics, good music! I love it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! : )

Loved the visuals and usage of the theme. I appreciated the introductory narrative to set the stage. Short, sweet, and to the point lol.

The game mechanic was really creative too!

I wonder how the game would feel if the aiming aspects were removed and the fire would go straight to the plant with the same color. You could probably speed up the game play significantly and give it a ZType feel (really fun game to play): https://zty.pe/

Thank you very much for playing our game and your comment.
Your idea really very logical to optimize the flow of the game. We'll consider if we decide to update the game after jam :P
I haven't played ztype before. Thanks to you, I got to know about this game as well.

Super cute game, the cuteness levels are off the chart. I like the game play a lot, surprisingly it reminded me of guitar hero since you're pressing colored buttons quickly in different combinations at a steady rhythm, which was pretty mind blowing and just goes to show how solid this game is!

Developer(+2)

Aaw thank you!

WIN \o/ haha. Cute game :) great idea done well! I think I lost most health in level 1 when I wasn't sure what I was doing :')

Developer(+2)

It's ok! thanks for playing : )

Nice game, a bit complex to get the mixing sequencing right until you get used to how things work. Nice catchy tune in the background as well. Great job with this entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game :P
Your nice comment made me very happy.

Awesome! I'd like to suggest a few things to make it better. When you introduced the colour mixing I first thought I forget right away, but it was intuitive I'd say. With that in mind, there're colour-blind people so maybe make it so the shape of the intruders match the plants?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We had limited time in jam so we couldn't focus very much. We will consider adding optimizations and a color blind mode in light of your feedback. Thanks for your comment :P
